I don't understand.

If Banner can control when he changes to Hulk, what triggered the transformation on the Helicarrier? And if the first fight was Hulk raging against everyone, what makes Hulk decide to help them when he comes back? And does this mean Banner disappears from the movie after the Helicarrier fight until the end?

Loki was tampering with Bruce's mind.

I thought it was because of the explosion loki caused?....

so wait, wait, wait, wait, WAIT.the last battle in new york is only 15-20 minutes long!!!
what the **** is up with that?? i thought it would be 30-40 minutes long...

also can you answer how much action is there in %? 30-40%...more?

anyone?

Does it really matter? I doubt anyone had a stopwatch running the entire time. Sheesh.

Partly it. The scene before it is of Banner getting upset with Fury and SHIELD for lying to him about what they want to do with the Tesseract. Bruce doesn't want to turn into the Hulk but Loki gets in his head and tries to bring him to the breaking point. Bruce even grabs Loki's spear when he gets angry and nearly uses it. The explosion happens and that triggers the unwilling transformation.

The battle is very long

The battle starts when the portal opens & Ironman is taking a bunch of gliders out up in the air

oh, i see. thanks for clearing that up.

Yeah, I think 20 minutes is a nice amount of time for the final battle to be if the action is epic.

Oh and some guy just clarified that it's around 40 minutes, which mean it's going to be SICKKKK!!!

Forgot to answer the second part.

Yeah, Hulk fights the SHIELD jet and it explodes while he is on it, sending him away and crashing to the ground. But the time spent between the final battle and the Hellicarrier fight isn't very long, so Banner/Hulk isn't gone long.

So [blackout]I get that he's angry all the time to stop himself from Hulking out, but then what kind of emotion allows him to Hulk out in that case?[/blackout]

It's still anger, Bruce can just control his anger which allows him to turn into the Hulk whenever he wants. The only reason he can't control his anger in the Hellicarrier is because of Loki.

It's at least 40min!
I saw it

thanks buddy.i asked because i heard couple of people saying that it is long and spectacular and then one guy here said that it was about 15 minutes.
i just wanted to be made clear-thats all

does it matter if a giant final action scene is only 15 min or 40 minutes long??? are you serious???

Given that people are raving that the entire movie is basically one long epic ride I'd say worrying over the precise length of the finale is a little silly, yeah.

At the final battle does it actually show Bruce transforming after he says he is always mad

If anyone watches this and thinks the final battle is too short, then I feel like they probably never would have been satisfied with its length. I'm pretty sure it's the longest final battle I've ever seen in a CBM.

Dude... what are you expecting Saving Private Ryan? why would the last action sequence be 30-40 mins long? That seems extra

There are so many characters and elements including that scientist from Thor, Fury, ppl you won't even think of that they had to make it long and it was so perfect!

They had parts where they battled each their own then counterparts, then as a team. Some of the fight goes back to the Helicarrier so it's not overly-longish all on NYC but still the same sequence. Hulk doesn't even show up until the halfway point when they are all worried.

why not??
if handled right it can last as long as it can.
we have been waiting a long time for this movie and it would be pretty dissapointing if a final battle with invasion involving aliens and all the avengers be that short.at leist for me...
