What I love is the fact that Zoe is approaching Selena from her perspective as a woman in that situation and not as some disillusioned idea of a woman nor simply just being a cookie cutter version of the character ripped from the comics. I never had any doubts about Zoe’s Catwoman and I know that she’s going to be perfect. However she plays the character, I’m comfortable with it because I know she will approach it with serious thought and emotion.

Isn't her coming to that place what her arc in Year One is about? She doesn't finish that story as a sex worker or someone doing what they feel they have to to get by, she finishes it as someone going out and taking what she wants and doing as she pleases. You talk about it like she spends the whole story as a sex worker who's called Catwoman because of her cat ear headband.

Not nescessarily, but that’s how the character was written for over forty years before Miller got a hold of her. Quote me an issue from the Golden, Silver, or Bronze Age depictions where Selina sleeps with someone for money instead of using stealth or force. I mean has she ever struck you as someone who would include the gratification of various men in her own pursuits of wealth?

You're comparing the 1940's, 50's to the 80's or 90's? It was a different time. A time that certainly didn't allow for that type of sexual exploration. The comics evolved and became more mature. That's like saying Joker shooting a pregnant woman or dancing with a corpse wasn't a part of the character in the silver age. Well yeah! Of course not. Different era.

As for Selina doing something like that? Sure why not. I can see her doing whatever she needs to do to survive and to stick it to the well-off. Sex can be a tool to get what you want and Selina is smart. Doesn't mean Zoe has to play into that for this version. But it's still valid in my eyes. And quite frankly I don't care if she is or not. I'm just fine with a car burglar. Alls I'm saying is it can be done and I won't be shocked if it happens, and I also like that interpretation.

The only two times we've seen Batman come to the realization at all that he's a bad person are Batman Forever and BvS. And both have entirely different contexts.

I hate when when people say it doesn’t seem “ new” and we haven’t seen it yet. It’s not like the Nolan movies looking at the tone and it’s not like the burton or Schumacher films. How much new does it have to be? You wanna go full on Adam west?

Actually, yes, unironically. A darker, more grounded version of Adam West would have been a fresh take... Whatever that may have looked like.

We're at the point in Batman's cinematic history, where some reinvention should be happening; some rediscovering of certain elements. The filmmakers should be finding new ways to present these elements-- a new way to present Batman's anger, a new way to present the Batsuit, a new way to present Gotham, and a new POV.

Because this is the second reboot of Batman in 6 years, and the third reboot overall. Time to start changing some things up.

I mean, look at Spider-Man: Homecoming for example, it was a complete reinvention, a completely fresh take; Marvel went out of their way to give us something new. Now was it everybody's cup of tea? No, but there's no denying that it was something different, which was much needed.

Man of Steel is another good example, and that film was similarly controversial to some fans. But there's no denying that it was a completely fresh take on Superman, which audiences had been BEGGING for.

It's a shame Reeves' take feels so.... Familiar, to what's been done with the character already. Specifically Snyder's take. It feels like Snyder 2.0

"Angry Batman" is not a concept unique to Snyder.

Reeves is taking the detective route. Not sure how you’re getting a “familiar” vibe, considering that take on Batman really hasn’t been explored yet.

If the only difference is age, is it really worth retreading that particular arc, and THAT particular characterization of Batman again-- as this raging brute? I was expecting something closer to Year One:



A much creepier, spookier Batman. One who thrives in the theatricality of this legend that he's building. That's the vibe I got from this shot:


Which looks like it came straight out of a Halloween movie. I could've even seen Reeves incorporating shades of Brandon Lee in 'The Crow':

There are soooooo many ways you can present Batman to audiences. Sooo many ways you can (re)envision the character, and do something completely fresh

I hope Batman loses several fights along the way; learning to rely more on stealth. I don’t want this to be Affleck god tier type Batman. He should be losing fights if he’s up against several larger people in a large group. He should barely be making it through
