I think the 'Nolanverse' should be neither expressly employed or repealed. It will be obvious enough that, when we see Two Face again or The Joker with bleached skin, we are not seeing a sequel to TDKR. But there is no need to trumpet the arrival of a new and separate story line. The differing realities can simply be left 'in the mix', as is the case with Bond movies pre and post "Casino Royale".

Anything to avoid another origin movie. Though I do criticize aspects of the recent trilogy, it is relatively difficult to see how Batman's origin story as seen in BB could be better told. There are tweaks and shifts of emphasis I would like, but hardly enough to justify retreading the whole thing again.

Showing the origin again would no doubt be a tad foolish. But I feel some brief expoaitionary flashbacks in the vein of Man of Steel would work wonders in establishing this Batman is genuinely "more than just a man" perhaps with a quick scene with the ten eyed men.

The only scene they should show is Bruce sitting in his living room, wounded holding that little bell, have him say or think the Frank Miller Year One monologue and say out loud " Yes father, i shall become a bat" BOOM a bat smashes the window he rings the bell, Alfred comes, next scene he is Batman, in full action. Thats how the film should open. It's the only origin element you need.

I can simply imagine the beginning showing a trippy scene like in Year One where he comes back to the Manor, all injured and frustrated, then he asks his parents what to do...the Bat flies into the window...he shall become a Bat.

That's enough imo.

I don't think you could show that without showing the Waynes' murders. The two moments are flip-sides of the same coin.

I am not adverse to seeing the murders again, because I didn't find the sequence to be handled very satisfactorily in BB. The decision to underplay it was a brave one, but it seemed to deprive the moment of some of its gravity and drama. Despite the erroneous presence of a young Jack Napier, I preferred the air of nightmarish foreboding that Tim Burton applied.

I honestly think that's the best scenario imo.

Bruce is a vigilante in MOS, but he's not Batman. So that plays into things.

I'm sure the film would focus on other elements of Batman's life. We'll be too caught up in that

The latter doesn't make any sense to me. Why would you introduce Batman and then immediately jump to the end of his career, effectively retelling the story we just saw in 'Rises?

The Long Halloween works better as a serialized comic than it would as a 2-3 hour film, and I'm not sure that a Two-Face origin story, as seen in TDK, is really the way to go at this stage.

Luke Evans might be too serious, he may be too much like Bale.

But thats the thing...Do the producers want that?

I didn't think Bale was all that serious as Batman. He was like a guy who got over his parents deaths, it didn't bother him that much.

Evans I imagine will be tortured, he plays that well.

How would that be a good idea? He's young, in year two at the most when he's in Justice League. You cant jump into a 55 year old take on the character, recasting. Besides, Long Halloween inspired Begins and Dark Knight and Returns inspired the whole trilogy, especially TDKRises.

They need to do the opposite of that.

I don't mind the odd flashback to his past but it has to be minimal. The actual flashes can't last long. I prefer they come off visually like a dreamy sequence whenever it happens.

But no detailed origin. No retirement angles. No first meeting with Joker or Catwoman. No Harvey Dent becoming Two-Face. No League of Assassins. No Lucius Fox. All of that must be left behind with Nolan's trilogy.

As for Luke Evans. I started watching No One Lives (thanks Rodrigo ) and his acting is bad. Obviously it's a WWE Production and he's given poor direction. But it's his accent that makes him come off bad, so far. With his natural accent he's more comfortable and in Fast 6 (and I imagine Dracula) he played the subtle, dark, controlling, cold character well. So maybe he can improve on the accent, but if not, he simply wont be able to play Bruce Wayne. He won't be able to carry the solo franchise on his shoulders. I think it honestly depends on the success of The Crow and Dracula which are popular stories that have Evans carrying the films on his own.

I'd reserve Joe for that role.

I completely agree, I think that Joe would make for an amazing Hawkman. The dude is a beast just like Hawkman should be portrayed as.

The ideal version would be a massively built actor who takes inspiration from Conroy. Grey and black suit too. But im not holding my breath.

So that's why a Keaton-controversial pick could actually be a good move. That's why I say Gosling. He's that Keaton pick. He wouldn't pull off the Conroy voice but that wouldn't be the point. He would be even quieter than Keaton in the suit. The only problem is that it's extremely unrealistic to think he'll sign to more than one movie. The new guy is probably signing a 3 film deal right from the get-go. Gosling would be difficult to deal with.

Evans has potential but I still don't think he's leading man material. I think he would work very well in Justice League movies but I don't think he has what it takes for the Batman solos. They're big shoes to fill, more than ever now. It's a billion dollar solo franchise and I don't think Luke is the right guy. Ive heard some bad things about the Crow remake script and I just don't think his upcoming movies will do well in the box-office.

Luke Evans would make for a fantastic villain. Im calling it now. Luke Evans for Black Mask in the first (or second) solo Batman movie.

I'd say if anything, Evans simply wasn't given a dialect coach for what was his first role as an American character.
