The Batman Spoiler Discussion Thread

The two interrogation scenes are so different they can't really be compared. I will say this one makes more sense than the TDK one but TDKs is the better scene.

I feel as a whole, the movies are apples and oranges. But I will say, being that it's the one time Batman and Riddler actually are face to face in the film, I would've liked a bit more out of it. And Dano's performance felt a bit too try-hard and really took me out of it, at least on my first viewing.

I loved Pattinson in it though. I actually think he was channeling some of the rage of Bale-Bats when he started shouting at Ed, and for me that is a big compliment.

What do you mean by "makes more sense" ?

Because the idea the cops would allow a vigilante not only interrogate a prisoner (who has rights) but beat the crap out of him while in custody is beyond stupid. It is awesome to watch (mainly cause Ledger owned the scene) but good lord it was just lazy unrealistic writing.

In the Riddler scene Batman is basically Clarice from Silence of the Lambs.

And I find it interesting people have issues with Danos overacting cause I thought the over the top nature was perfect. This was his chance to finally be seen, he thought he and Batman were going to bond. He is a manchild who just had his entire purpose spit on. His reaction was that of a child not getting their way.

Worked for me I guesss.

The scene that really stuck with me was before the interrogation where Dano and Pattinson locked eyes with each other in the diner when he's being cuffed.

Yep a great shot!

Gordon was commissioner at that point, and it was in his own unit. Gordon trusts Batman. Makes enough sense to me. I have 0 problem believing that Jeffrey Wright's Gordon wouldn't have allowed the same if he were in that position of power in this movie, considering how often Batman was just hanging out at crime scenes.

Gordon had been commissioner literally an hour...come on now.

Nolan wanted us to believe it was the real world (or very close to it) so that strains credibility. Again awesome though in the context of the film but flimsy when you break it down.

Reeves isn't pretending this is our world...and even so Gordon still gets criticized for allowing Batman be involved even though Riddler forces them to.

There are plenty of logical or tonal leaps that bug me in Nolan's Batfilms, but Gordon letting Bats interrogate the Joker is not one of them, at all.

A very obviously CGI Bat-Pod driving up a wall and flipping around, after an awesome, shot for real, chase sequence in a very blatantly cool shot? Yes, that bugs the crap out of me.

Nolan adapting an iconic scene from The Killing Joke? No way!

Oh God the Batpod...lol!

It's a nitpick that only was a nitpick because of how much Nolan his out if his way yo make his film seem "real". I mean I give the film a 10/10 so if isn't like it is awful or anything.

I'm sneaking out either Saturday night or Sunday afternoon to go see this again. So much to process still. When spoilers are eased up, I'm probably going to update my signature to "Thumb...drive" :funny:

Emotional reasonace takes priority over realsim for me so I have no problem with it.

This is something I've been dying to know to ever since the second trailer.

For those that have seen The Batman is the "what have you done " scene on par with the interrogation scene of the Dark Knight for you ?
It's a terrific scene, full of tension and mood. Dano goes really out there and Pattison is able to convey so much under the mask...

...but it's not as good as the TDK interrogation. That's the most iconic scene in an iconic movie. Real lightning in a bottle. No knock at all against THE BATMAN; it's going up against one of the greatest scenes of all time.

It's definitely not a knock against The Batman lol I'm still expecting to love this scene !

Looking back at one of the gifs I made, I just noticed you can see all the shotgun dents on his suit.

Yup. When the second trailer came out and people were complaining about Bats walking through gunfire like it was nothing, I kept pointing to this gif to show that Bruce clearly suffers consequences for any such reckless actions.

After having seen the film, he doesn't really apart from getting knocked out a couple times. I thought it could be a problem when I saw the trailers and it was.

I know it sounds like I have a problem with it...but it is better described as I prefer one method to the other. Trust me I didn't turn the channel when I watched the Joker scene 2 weeks ago ;)

There are things about every film I love I would change or could nitpick...I usually only doing it in the context of a discussion of equal films. Think of it like this...if you have one of the two best players of all time on your team just because you might like aspects of the other teams player a bit more doesn't mean you hate your player or would swap them out if you could. It just means no one is perfect :)

So this doesn’t drag?

No one seemed to think so in my showing and I certainly didn't think so. It all depends how engrossed you get I guess cause I could see how maybe non-Bat fans would feel it drags.
