The Batman Spoiler Discussion Thread

So there's only a six year gap between Barry and Robert, but because Barry looks much younger than Robert, it'll be interesting to see if they play around with that in their eventual dynamic.

Don't be so sure lol. Matt is obviously playing coy right now about whether or not the Joker is in the next film, probably because he hasn't even began writing the script. But I think there's a big chance Joker is one of the many villains featured in the sequel. No chance they wait till the 3rd film after all this teasing in this movie and potentially the GCPD/Arkham show

Agreed. The Joker is just the most well known villain for Batman of the general public and once it gets out more and more people will be clamoring for him.

My guess is the second film will be like No Man’s Land with Batman going through a gauntlet of villains where Joker will pop up several times through the film as this background character that is possibly orchestrating everything and it will lead into the third film as him being the main bad guy.

I think in the sequel Barry will probably get about the same amount of screen time as the Penguin did in the first film then expanded in the third.

Really wish Reeves would stop talking about the "deleted Joker scene", and kind of wish he never mentioned it at all -- especially on or before release day. Really pointless and just tainting/confusing the discourse around the film.

I just saw an interview where Matt gives more details on the deleted Joker scene, stating that he absolutely will release it soon because he wants the world to see the brilliant work Barry and Rob did and the makeup design by Mike Marino.

He also revealed a piece of the dialogue where apparently, Joker says "It's almost our anniversary isn't it?" to Batman

I NEED THIS SCENE NOW

Is something public how it can be that Barry have two dates for one party being in Marvel and DC at the same time?

Kravitz kind of stole the movie for me. She has the most fleshed-out and well realized arc in the movie and gives Selina a ton of depth and nuance. I love Hathaway and Pfieffer but she might be the best on-screen Catwoman to date.

Just out of curiosity, you didn't find his friends plot to be kind of on the surface?

I mean she didn't seem that sad except for when she found out, every time we saw her she didn't seems to be worried about her.

I don't know, for me, personally, I didn't thought her scenes back to back were coherent, she was a fun one time, worried the other, when she saw her death body it didn't seems to get that much to her.

I thought she was fun, but her arc was pretty empty for me.

As someone who didn’t watch the final trailers/clips/TV spots, I just watched them now to see how much they have away. Jeeeeez. Glad I didn’t. 95% of the best scenes were in the trailers. WB didn’t save much for the movie

Completely agree with this. Moronic WB marketing strikes again. A lot of the surprise was taken from the movie.

You can pretty much piece the whole plot together, and all the film’s major beats from the trailers. They should have not featured anything from the back half of the movie.

I doubt the final look of the Joker will match what glimpse we saw here. It was clearly meant to be enough a reference so you know it’s bun. Wouldn’t surprise me if he looks different once we get a full look.

Just want to give a huge shout to how fabulous Reeves has made Gotham in this film.

EASILY the best version of the city on screen ever. Grimy, dark, rusting, rain-soaked, corrupt, horrid, huge, looming, and literally the worst place you’d ever want to live. Perfectly done.

Dammit. They should have kept thar in the film. I feel like the criticism of the scene we've seen is because it is half the picture.

Just like Gollum in Fellowship of the Ring.

Either keep that scene or cut out both. It without that first one was so tacked on. I'd rather you don't do the Joker at all, but if you're going to do it, a Batman who's already met the Joker and has a relationship with him and helps him is the way to go. The last scene by itself is just terrible.

It comes off like something out of the Joel Schumacher Batman movies just with a different team.

Mmmm.

I'd assume his age is gonna be more ambiguous more than anything. He's gonna look like he could be ancient or as young as Bruce, via the prosthetics.

Definitely sounds like a similar take to the Telltale Games' John Doe character, which I'm all for. Was a fresh take on it IMO.

Really excited at seeing where Reeves and Keoghan go with this. Personally I liked what little bit we got. Voice, laugh and all.
Same here. I wanted a laugh different to classic Joker and it had a haunting quality to it with the promise of a lot behind it for future development as the character grows in significance.

Oh man! And knowing Reeves, I bet it'll be in 4k. I'm super eager to see it, and then we can finally get a better look at his face too!

...really lends to the GCPD show trying to capture a murderer who probably carves up his victims / Ed Gein-style meets Jack The Ripper. Cops trying to beat the Bat to the punch ala Gotham Central's first arc.

All the while the finale has both Barry and Robert in it, Pattinson cameoing. Barry could be sparsely used throughout the 6-8 episodes ala Mindhunter's BTK.

Damn, now I miss Mindhunter.

Yes yes yes yes to all of this.
