The Batman Spoiler Discussion Thread

My second time, I wondered if the bitter guy from the funeral was the Riddler goon that they unmask who says "I'm Vengenace". I didn't think it was, but the Pulp Fiction'd Battinson had literally flattened out his nose.

Yeah, Cranston gets fan cast as a bunch of CBM characters, but the only one I'd like to see him as would be... Perry White.
He would have made a good Jameson too

My pick for Harvey Dent would be Tom Pelphrey or Toby Kebbel. And I think it's actually likely Toby gets a role in this franchise. He worked with Matt on the apes films as Koba, the villain ape
Toby as Dent would be great. He's underrated as an actor

I assumed it was

Waaaaaiiiit where?!

so keep an eye on when Selena leaves the club in a taxi the first time. When Bruce follows her there’s an exterior shot of the whole street area in front of the iceberg and in the very corner (where the riddlers flat is revealed to be) you see a little open window with a silhouette snapping pics)

With things like this being found now, I wonder how many other easter eggs people will find haha.

I'd love to see Pelphrey in Reeves's Batverse. I wouldn't mind seeing him as Dent but I think he'd make for a great Scarecrow too.

I don’t see that happening because of Reeves’ age. He’s 55. Unless he’s OK doing Batman films as he approaches 70, he’s not doing more than a trilogy. Especially since he’s mentioned he’d like to do a few original smaller films if he can get them funded after Batman.

He also needs to rest because even the cast were concerned. Just look at this movie. It took 2 1/2 years to come out. Realistically I say he'll do 3 movies and that's it.

He'll take a two year break before he dives back in

I trust Reeves to be sensible sort of like the Nolans in that they do a trilogy and call it quits. Any more would be just "wheeling in villains" like what Emma Thomas said in an interview

Emma Thomas says Christopher Nolan will never make another Batman film

"The great thing about a trilogy is that it feels like you’ve got a beginning, a middle and an end. It’s like an extended version of a regular film. Once you get into a fourth film then it’s just episodic, and I just can’t see him getting excited about making another film where basically you’re just wheeling in different villains.”

Watched Batman: Hush to get a better idea of the character (I admittedly don't know a whole lot about him) and I can easily see the natural progression he would bring in the sequel.

Seems like an easy fit following the first film

Well that animated movie changed a lot from the original source.

If Reeves puts the same amount of enthusiasm, love and care into the sequels that he put into this, he can make another 9 movies for all I care. There is no one “right” way to go about deciding when to call it quits. As long as his creative output is good, he can stay as long or as short as he wants.

I think having Joker be the villain of the third movie like Arkham asylum is perfect. For other villains to do:

Main villains: Two-face, court of owls, hush, scarecrow, bane, red hood,

Side villains: Black mask, professor pyg, Hugo strange, the mad hatter, ventriloquist, zsasz, calendar man, the mutant gang

I would love to see mister freeze or clay face or man bat but I don’t know how reeves could do it without completely reinventing the character from the ground up.

I'm pretty sure it's not. Dude had stubble and his head isn't as wide. Also he had a different accent. But it might be meant to be, who knows

I can guarantee Matt Reeves saw Mask of the Phantasm with this line in mind when he was making The Batman. We start out in the movie with Batman saying "I'm Vengence" and it ends with a hopeful note with him saving people.
