The Batman Spoiler Discussion Thread

So in this Arkham series the Police isn't involved at all?
I remembered a few days ago Wright said he would be in the series.

I think we can't blame WB totally.
Today horror series have more audiences than police department's, I think.

Anyway, I wonder if this series will still be a prequel about the capture of the pre-Joker...

I will say even though I don’t find the concept of an Arkham show as interesting as most seem to, it will be a fun opportunity to see some doubtlessly great actors play random Batman villains. I just hope it feels like it has a place in the larger story the way GCPD seemed designed to have and Penguin seems to as well.

Giant shame that something so compelling sounding (especially since it clearly would have involved Pattinson and Wright) got shelved seemingly because it didn’t have enough Batman Franchise stuff in it. If Arkham is a Joker series of any kind that is extra lame.

Obviously, Arkham could be great though. It just feels inherently more fan servicey. But maybe it’s central premise will be super compelling.

Pattinson would have been in like one episode. Series centered around Arkham is INFINITELY more interesting and something that is new. The GCPD series would just have ended up like every other police procedure tv show that saturates the screens. The casual public will eat up a show that could potentially be a horror style with possibly the Joker, Harley Quinn, Riddler, Hugo Strange and any other number of small villains, etc.

I mean, I have sufficient faith in Reeves that GCPD would not have been Law and Order. For all we know Arkham will be way better! It just sounds like Reeves original idea was more of a passion project and this is more of a studio indulgence.

Not sure if it's still considered a spoiler or not so I figured I'd post in here. I kind of found it funny that the Riddler still has this obsession with Bruce Wayne much like he had issues with him in Batman Forever.

I thought the same thing.

I thought when Carmine got his trademark scar that'd he'd stay and this was only the beginning/he'd be in more movies.

Nope. No sequel for Carmine.

I am wondering if we are going to get Sofia and Alberto in the sequel, working together to take over their father's empire and fill the power vacuum, but having conflicts with each other on how to run things.

Some food for thought here, my friends:

That initial Bruce from "The Batman" is very similar to Zero Year Bruce (mixed with Miller's stories Bruce archetypes, esp Year One - as we see from the classic scene that open the movie). Completely disregards his family legacy and wants nothing to do with the company. He is also very angry and impulsive.

I have some captions.

His initial dialogue with Alfred in the movie seems very reminescent of Zero Year - Alfred complains about how he is not doing what he is suppposed to do and he goes full mad (up to this moment Bruce is so absorbed in the Batman persona he is even living hiding while letting everybody believe Bruce Wayne been dead for years and he has zero intention to prove otherwise):

Now, if anyone could read just this splash page, it'd be really nice - in this Alfred basically sums it all up, the "I'm Vengeance" Bruce (click to enlarge). And the description here matches exactly what we see in the movie:

I went and did compare both texts, from Zero Year (in the caption above) and the one Bruce narrates by the of the movie:

Zero Year:

"But if you do that, sir, if you let the past drive Batman, his scars, he becomes something dark, a demon of vengeance. Not a creature of justice of hope, and he will not last, nor will you."

The Batman ending:

"Vengeance won't change the past. mine or anyone's else's. I have to become more. People need hope. To know someone's out there for them. The city's angry…Scarred like me. Our scars can destroy us. Even after the physical wounds have healed. But if we survive them. They can transform us. They can give us the power. To endure. The strength to fight."

It's like they were writen as an answer/compliment to each other. Incredible!

If Zsasz ever shows up, he had better just be a damned serial killer. I don’t know why movies and TV shows keep making him a mob hit man. Maybe they did that in the comics at some point but Zsasz is much more effective as a guy with no pattern who kills anyone and then positions their bodies as if they are still alive.
THANK you!

Save all that for the penguin series.

I am very alone in this but BoP is the only time I’ve ever liked either Black Mask or Zsasz.
Tbh I agree. I didn't mind Zsasz in Gotham and The Arkham Origins Black Mask was cool until the Joker thing. But I really enjoyed them both in that film.

If we wanted to avoid Batman facing another Serial Killer we could give Catwoman a Zsasz or Professor Pyg to face off against while she's in Bludhaven

Haha now every time I watch that scene I'm gonna be thinking of this meme.

Speaking of, I gotta say, Battinson really worked with his eyes a lot under that cowl. There was so much focus on them, and it felt like they told a lot about how he was feeling. Just fantastic work from Pattinson and Reeves.

Idk if its more or less fan service-y than what may have involved Batman and Gordon.
