The Dark Knight The Batmobile Thread, Only Better.

maybe Bruce will rebuild the tumbler, but change up a few things in the look, arsenal, etc.

But it's not. Look at the thing in scale, compared to a regular person. It's much bigger than you think.

Then what is your point? If the tumbler is big and strong, what is your point?

I am really looking forward to the movie. And I might add a sleeker vehicle does not have to sacrifice power. Big engine armor plating and some gadgetry would work. I think this would be an excellent template for a new Batmobile.

Uh is that not an Aston Martin? They would never use and Aston, aka Bond's car.

That you can still make a big and strong car without sacrificing an elegant and sleek design.

If you wanna get down to the core of the issue, I think the Tumbler is ugly-looking and I want a better looking car that can more perform the same feats and more.

Personally don't think that. Sleek and fast is a Bond thing. Nolan's Batman is industrial. His equipment needs to look functional. That is why they play up both sides of his character. He has the sleek cars and fast women when he is playing his role to the public. It is a direct contradiction for a reason.

Tumbler is the only Batmoblie I ever really liked to be honest. Not ugly at all. I am a fan of the beast.

No. It's not. Both characters have been thoroughly compared for a reason. Before the Tumbler, the general idea of a batmobile was exactly to be sleek and fast. No one considered it a Bond ripoff then, and it likely never will.

I sense an underlying notion that changing up the design will somehow erase this. I'm confused by that assumption and I don't even think it's worth to argue at this point. Seems like it's just going in circles.

Batman has never and never will be Bond. Bruce Wayne the character is Bond. Batman himself is the guy that is insanely smart and would figure out a way to defeat a God like Superman in the most crude way possible. Bond is uptight and juvenile, Batman is psychotic.

As to whether you have have sleek and functional in the same package, personally think it doesn't work in this verse. The more "sleek" things look, the more breakable they appear. Reason Joker drives around in buses and semis. Seems you want things made of fiberglass.

Considering you've managed to point out their differences, then that is obviously not what I was referring to. Endless amounts of tech gadgets, sultry women as lovers/villains, and their epic adventures are what I was getting at.

Then I must say it's a figment of your imagination to think so. There are plenty of visual treats in this franchise that could have been toned down or less designed, but weren't.

So I take it whenever you open a comic book, you always seem to think that Batman's car is too fragile or not solidly built enough?

If we have a new Tumbler in the next flick, don't even bother posting pics of all these ridiculous concept cars of how you want or think the next batmobile is going to look like. By now we should know that Chris has a freaking insane mind when it comes to vehicles and he always thinks outside of the box. He's not just one step ahead of us, he's decades.

Just look at the ET special. You can see the Pod do a weird stunt with its front wheel! I mean, whoever envisioned this is clearly a genius! Thank god that the people behind BB and TDK (nolan didnt design the vehicles) are thinking outside the box and bringing us new ideas! That goes for character development as well.

EXACTLY!
First time I read about how crazy the Bat-pod turns, in my head I pictured it just doing a crazy sharp drift... then I see the ET clip and I just jumped out of my seat. What the hell were those spinning lights?! So I take another look at it and holy hell the darn wheel is spinning!!! :wow:
Of course a wheel spins! Nay... This thing was spinning on it's sides!

Pure genius.

I hope you know gyroscope models predate Nolan by several decades. :oldrazz:

In fact, when the BB script leaked and described the Tumbler using a gyroscope-like cockpit, many posters theorized it would move in very unconventional ways, much like how the Batpod is.

What do you mean by gyroscope?

And whatever that thing is, if it was up to us or other directors, we would get a Ferrari with wings. Hell, many things are out there, its what you do with them and how you use them in your film!

Most of us would just use a black Ducatti or Harley with fins as the batcycle. But look at the Pod!

EDIT: Nevermind, i googled.

I hope that they build a more beautiful tumbler for BB3 and a batwing. But i want the batwing to be as unconventional as the tumbler and the pod have been!

gy·ro·scope [jahy-ruh-skohp]
–noun
an apparatus consisting of a rotating wheel so mounted that its axis can turn freely in certain or all directions, and capable of maintaining the same absolute direction in space in spite of movements of the mountings and surrounding parts: used to maintain equilibrium, determine direction, etc.

So i guess when using the adjective gyroscopic about the tumbler they meant the seat. Not exactly precise... but what the hell.

I think quite a bit of Goyer's original conception of the gyroscope was thrown out by the final product. I remember seeing a concept drawing that featured rotating axes, but as we know that was never in BB.

They probably wanted to elaborate on that idea with the batpod. It pays off, it looks incredibly cool.

Description of the batmobile here if anyone needs it^^^

Just helpin' out:)

This is a Batmobile

I like the tumbler, its just not the batmobile, maybe we'll get a real one in the third movie.

I suppose that fits the general criteria of a Batmobile, but I personally find that to be really ugly. I just did a quick search on DeviantArt and found 3 that are more along the lines of how I'd envision Batman's car:

I think these are pretty good interpretations of a modern Batmobile. It keeps the symbolism of the character alive. They're sleek, but not sports stylish in the traditional and flashy sense. Plus, they do look solid and given a large size, could plausibly be wrecking forces.

You best be joking!

Crook, the first one is from the comics i think. Its design is ******ed and cheesy (with the bat face on the bonnet... christ!) by today's standards.
I like the second one most because not only does it look more robust, but its like the next generation of my favourite design for a car, the BTAS batmobile!

On the other hand the joker only has to ride his Slaugher truck over a pavement and he can get away! Batman will look cool but will still lose.

But apart from the practicality issues, i find the tumbler more ground breaking. Those things are still different iterations of the long bonnet batmobile. Hell, the Cadillac Sixteen (google it) is identical to them. And i dont like that!

My idea.

Since the Tumbler gets destroyed(supposedly),in the third movie, the first shot should be the bat symbol, then on the highway, a new sleek fast batmobile is speeding down the highway to the GCPD station

Perfect opening
