The BATSUIT Thread

I want something simple and sleek.
I know there will probably be some muscle enhancements but I hope they’re only used where they’re needed. Batman doesn’t need to be a tank and I’m beyond tired of that look.

My ideal batsuit for this movie would be something like this

Made from a material similar to what was used for the far from home suit
The controlled shoulder drape on that cape is perfect, it envelopes him but still allows the rest of the suit to be seen most of the time. I'm with other people, love everything about this except the ears and maybe dark shading in the midsection instead of actual trunks.

What is the appeal to people to have ears like this for a live-action film? They would look horrible.
Why do you say that? If it's not your preference ok but the classic 1939 ears would look really cool if done right. I highly doubt they ever go that direction though.

David Crossman and Glyn Dillon will design the batsuit according to IMDB. They worked on Rogue One and Solo

This is fantastic news! These two have done some incredible character / costume design work on the new Star Wars movies. Glyn Dillon is also the artist responsible for the final look of Klyo Ren and the Knights of Ren which should encourage those hoping for an intimidating bat suit.

Yep; i liked a lot the Marauders look in Solo. Very intimidating indeed

For the record, Pattinson also claims he hasn’t seen the final version of his new Batsuit, which is still hidden from public view in Warner’s Batcave. “Matt has got a really awesome idea about it,” he allows. “I think this thing is going to be very, very cool.” He’s fortunate to have received some costume advice from none other than Dark Knight trilogy architect, Christopher Nolan; Pattinson was shooting his role in the director’s next movie, Tenet, when he officially became the latest Batman this past summer. “Chris told me a little bit about how to get the camo off my face — that amongst other things,” he teases.
'The Batman' star Robert Pattinson on his 'cool' Batsuit, not facing Joaquin Phoenix's Joker and the horror of 'Lighthouse' flatulence

Might be too much or too impractical but I'd be really interested to see an attempt at some kind of structure under the cape for the Breyfogle-style pointed shoulders.

It doesn't mean that definitively. All it means is Bale told him from experience. His Batsuit had it, Rob said they haven't even gotten to the final version yet

We could still get lenses

I am going to be so disappointed if we get the same old approach to Batman's cowl we've been using since 1989.

For 30 years we've been using black eye makeup to cover up the flesh tone around the actor's eyes. Its now the equivalent of using straight up spandex for live action movie/TV show superhero outfits (like they did in the Christopher Reeve Superman movies and the Adam West Batman show), in that it is now antiquated and not the evolution this character needs in how he is being presented in a live action format.

Are people just afraid of lenses because Nolan couldn't pull it off in the Dark Knight?

I don't get why some are celebrating the possibility of black eye makeup being used yet again?

Ugh.

No thinks.

he meant Nolan told him.
Right, when they were filming Tenet 2 months ago, right? I doubt Rob had even seen the final Batsuit. He was almost certainly talking about the one he screen tested in, which was likely the Affleck or Bale suit.

And I agree with @AndrewGilkison - it's wayy past time the engineering of the cowl evolved from a method they've been using for 30 years now. I really hope Reeves does something different this time. Pattinson's comments are encouraging, that it will be something fresh

The time for white lenses is now. Just give me a Neal Adams Batsuit, long ears, and white lenses.

Give me the actor's emoting eyes over any lenses. I wouldn't change that approach, either. I wouldn't cry if they went back to a darker, black suit, either. I trust Reeves' judgement with this.

The costume designer liked this tweet.

Black and grey > All black > Blue and grey.

I think black and grey is the most likely scenario. I don't they will ever attempt the blue and grey, unfortunately.

And there goes the outdated argument again. That meaningful, emotional acting is not possible unless the actor's pupils are visible

I'd try to make a suit that is Black & Grey but when hard light hits it you'd get a small blue tint. Makes everyone happy!

Sigh.

Can the old myth of the eyeballs being exposed conveying emotion die already?

It's not the eyeballs that convey emotion, it's the facial muscles surrounding the eyes, namely the brows, that make a difference. And those are going to be a rigid part of the cowl whether there are lenses or not.

Also yeah, Daredevil.
