The BATSUIT Thread

Oh great, we're back on the realism debates again.

I hate the word realism when it comes to comic book characters to be honest.
I always want to scratch the skin of my face off whenever someone says grounded or realistic when it comes to comic book movies. :woot:
I hate this idea that comic book movies need to be grounded or realistic...i hate it.:woot:

I want to see a big guy dressed as a bat throw others around, i want to see a guy who calls himself spider-man do fancy flips etc, i want this over the top stuff.

But i get what you are saying.
As long as Reeves Batman doesnt look as small as Bale...im okay with everything.
Something along the lines of how Cavill looks would be fine to me too.

More than fair enough

Realistic is not a better or worse choice. It’s just a choice.

What matters is the quality of the film itself.

I’d be happy with a more fantastical representation of Batman if it was well done. In fact, given how good a job Nolan did, it might be better for Reeves to swing more towards hyper-realism. I’d love to see a film-maker with talent handle that kind of Batman. It hasn’t happened yet.

Yeah, some people like it this way, others prefer something different.
If the movie is good and that character is done right, its all that matters in the end.

Tim Burton.

After spending so many years wanting to see a black and grey batsuit and finally actually getting it...

I honestly kinda want him to go back to all black :funny:

I think I just want a suit that doesn't look like it came from the arkham games, or another variation of the gray/black/black bat suit.

How about blue and dark grey? The dark blue captain America used in the winter soldier looked really good. Egspeciallly in the opening boat scene at night.

This is pretty much what I'd like to see.

I'd like to move on from constantly cribbing from Frank Miller, both story wise and design wise.

Actually, Batman starts off wearing that outfit in DKR. He switches to the gray/black after his first fight with the mutant leader.

Either way, it was DKR and YO that truly popularized the gray/black/black bat look we see today.

I honestly wouldn't mind a return of the yellow oval and the streamlined yellow utility belt. Maybe its because I grew up with the Burton movies and Animated Series but I tend to like that look the best.

Tim Burton.

...ish. Burton’s Batman was great in a lot of ways, but veered wildly away from the source material in others. Burton very much made a Batman he was comfortable with, but I’d maintain it wasn’t a Batman true enough to the source. Nolan has got the closest, but that was with a very grounded approach. I’d argue we’re still waiting on someone to give us a ‘full blown’ Batman, taken from the comics. A version that both embraces the hyper-reality, and accurately captures the core elements of the character. I hope Reeves is up to that task.

Same.

I want a complete overhaul with this suit. Something that isn't defined by sculpted foam latex padding and rubber. The cowl especially is in dire need of reinvention.

If Reeves has the stones to give us a blue/grey fabric batsuit with the yellow oval, he can have all of my money.

Blue and gray would never be my first choice but I think it could look amazing if done well.

:ilv::ilv:
I love the black and yellow together.

Seems extremely unlikely that we’ll see that again

But I can hope

I love how this place spent forever complaining about not being given black and grey, and now it's just like "Ugh, black and grey. Where's the blue?"

Go back to all black, because it's what y'all deserve. :o

I wish someone would have the stones to do that. I think a lot of people would be impressed with the first person to bring that outfit to life in a credible way.

You should see the Spidey boards. They got a perfect costume the first time around. And an even more perfect costume later on [ASM 2]. Yet they whine about the smallest things.

I would love to see more gentle, cloth-like material. And CGI augmentation.

Who's whining?

We just got two black and grey batsuits. Am I wrong for wanting to see them go blue and grey next? I don't see the issue.

What a straw man. Lets not act like the same people who wanted Black and Gray are the exact same people who want something else now. I'm pretty sure most people want the black and gray to stick around.

Also, this.

It is pretty ironic, after all these years.

Not sure why, but I'm not crazy about the idea of the blue/grey suit in place of blck/grey.

I'd really have to see a great, fully-realized concept of it to get on board.

Is it me or does Keaton's mouth look the best under the cowl? I think it's his full lips. Looks rather pleasant under the cowl. Both Affleck and Bale have very thin lips. The former compensates with a square jaw and ass chin. Bale just looks weird.
