I’d definitely love to see the oval return.
It’s been too long.

I wouldn't be against the oval returning, but the bat symbol they got right now is my favourite, period. So I'd have no complaints if they stayed with the current design. I definitely would like to see them go the Rebirth route and give it a yellow outline though.

I'm not sure how I feel about the long ears in live action. Medium length work for me personally.

Agreed, to be fair. Arkham Origins is my perfect length (not perfect shape, perfect length) for ears personally. The design I put here I feel is basically my perfect Bat ears. Not too long, not too short and the best shape.

HA I was just about to bring up the yellow outline.
That would work well too imo.

Maybe design wise but for me personally, the big bat makes the most sense from a functionality standpoint as it's a commonly accepted thing that the bat symbol is effectively meant to be a target for people to shoot at. And having that target be big only makes sense.

I know as far the image and overall look to me Batman Returns has the ultimate design, maybe not functional as it was impossible for Keaton to even turn his head but looking at pictures of Keaton in that bat suit just fills me with joy. The shape of the cape and cowl and ear length were just spot on perfect. I don’t wanna see a return to the all black suit though, in a world where Antman is blockbuster movie ( not a knock, loved antman) then Batman can where his black and grey. Afflecks suit is good just slim it up and lengthen the ears a bit, also not opposed to the ovals return

Is it possible that they could have the cowl head piece, a space where the neck would go and the rest of the suit, but CG in the neck piece to allow for the neck turn?

Then maybe they could simulate the shape of the cowl while still having it be functional.

I've been suggesting that for years. They already CG the cape on for many instances. Why not CG where the neck is so the actor can actually maneuver in the cowl.

Hopefully Reeves will be the first to do this.

Same here. The Batman Returns suit is one of my very favourites.

Agree here as well. The BvS suit did Affleck no favours. The design looked good on paper (TDKReturns) and even on a manikin but in live-action it appeared bloated. And I was never a fan of the short ears.

Miller's design was always horrid doh. Even on Paper. You'd have to be a hardcore fan/purist or just have a terrible fashion sense to say that it looks cool. It was always horrendous.

I once had a dream about Affleck wearing the funky 1939/first appearance suit and fighting criminals lol. Still looked cool.

Regarding what you guys are saying, I think a Batfleck suit with longer ears (optional), slimmer physique, a somewhat different Batsymbol and minor changes in design here and there would look better than Keaton's suit.

I don't think they've nailed it yet but I still prefer the black and grey color scheme over the all black. The oval symbol is hnnghh though.

Aesthetically, I always preferred the B89 suit and its attempt to approximate a comicbook musculature - hated the vertical slat abs on the Returns suit with a passion and generally feel the only thing it has over the '89 suit is better refinement. Same pretty much goes for the BvS/SS suit over both versions seen in the JL movie.

Personally, I think BvS still features the best Batman suit. I really wish they didn't screw over Ironhead Studios. I didn't care much for the Justice League iteration. I recently watched Batman v Superman with my friend, he hadn't seen it, and damn is Batman intimidating! That was definitely lost in translation over to Justice League.

I can understand people's gripes with the BvS suit but, for me, I love the bulky/bruiser look. In my opinion, it makes him more imposing. Especially with the iconic shots like...

- Walking into the truck trailer during the Knightmare sequence.
- Approaching the guy knifed to the wall in the warehouse.
- When Batman stands in the doorway of Lex's cell.

If you filmed those in a suit like, let's say Keaton or Bale's, it wouldn't have been as visually "powerful". His stature definitely added a layer to him where, sure Batman is all about stealth and such but, when the bad guys SEE him, I think that adds a whole other level of fear. It's this hulking brute who stands at nearly 6'5. (I think he's only 6'2 though in the comics but Affleck is a beast.)

I think moving forward they should definitely go back to the grey/black color scheme. If they absolutely must change/create a new suit, my vote goes for something in vain of the Batman Incorporated Suit featured in the Arkham Knight video game.

I tried googling some photos of the suit to post but, Jesus are they awful screen grabs. They by no means do the suit any favors or justice. I love running around in the game with that suit and it feels like the perfect mixture between the BvS/Keaton suit. It also feels very reminiscent to the suit I grew up with ala the Batman Animated Series suit.

Beyond stoked to see what creative liberties they take for "The Batman".

Same. Although I like the Earth One suit more than the Batman Incorporated one. It looks sleeker and cleaner IMO.

I'd much rather see a translation of that ^^^^suit than yet more armour. It rankles that after years of yearning for something other than armour we finally got the BvS suit, only for them to then go back to armour.

After watching Batman and Batman Returns on Netflix this weekend it reminds me just how much I actually miss the yellow oval. It has a really good look and we’ve been without it in movies, animation, and comics for way to long. I really feel like they should bring it back for a while. The Batman Inc suit really would be a good looks for the next movie, it straddles that line perfectly.
