The BATSUIT Thread

I think it would be quite an accomplishment if Reeves could pull off the small, quiet noir style story while still having fantastical elements. Things like the Lazarus pit, mr. Freeze, and a more subtle clay face could be done without taking all the way outside of the "grounded" feel. Just a matter of blending these elements without an over complicated story.
A nice step up from Nolan's version, that would be.

Sounds like a CW show, when you put it like that.
I was thinking something more in the lines of a good Netflix show, one that looks cinematic and has better writing.

And they've all been great.
Yes, they've been -mostly- great. I am now ready for the next step.

I don't mind fantastical elements at all. BTAS had alot of those but still stayed a Batman show and mainly stayed within Gotham and its people.

I don’t care how “grounded” we’re going and I don’t wanna hear none of y’all jibber-jabbering about it: I want Man-Bat.
.....why? There's nothing there interesting. It's a monster he faces. It's basically Jekyll/Hyde but less interesting. Man-Bat has never been interesting aside from a tertiary character. And on film it'd just be a cgi mess or even if the CGI is good we see plenty of monsters and whatnot anyway.

I'm not concerned about seeing Man-Bat's story, but seeing Batman fight a giant bat would be cool.

I found Man-Bat to be pretty compelling back in the Bronze Age comics, he even had his own solo comic, if I remember correctly. But please continue dissing the character because all you see is a giant bat :o

I love both The Lizard and Man-bat! I keep hearing Matt's Batman movies will be both fantastical and grounded. Hope it's true seems like Matt got everything mapped out

Don't we have three or four universes like that?
  1. 66 Batman
  2. 1989-1997 Batman
  3. Christopher Nolan's Batman
  4. Beware the Batman (animation, maybe)

And now we can probably add the Matt Reeve's version. I'm ready for a good live action version of Batman with these elements.
Yep, and what’s the best Batman of them all? The DCAU Batman of course. The one where Batman worked with gods and fought monsters regularly.

Man-Bat is basically just a lame version of the Lizard.
Nah, he's different enough.
Beware the Batman got the character right.

Opposite.
Nah

I personally think the character of Batman works terribly next to characters like that
I think he works well coming up with plans and explaining his theories in certain situations, he is also the brightest detective they could work with, that is not the Question.

When they make Batman overpowered and the person who can defeat odds that defeat Superman and the likes but sheer guts and will power, this is when things are ridiculous.

Why's he getting felt up in the first picture?

Don't know about the rest of the suit, but if that collar is wide enough, it could be not just a protective element, but a visual nod to the more demonic, scalloped shoulders look.

Umm 89-97? Most of the villains had super-powers. Burton/Shumacher was a fantastical world. That’s 4 movies. Snyder/Ayer’s Batfleck was involved in 3 movies that also had super-powered beings. So we’ve only had 3 Nolan Batman movies without it. I would make the argument that we need more realistic Batman movies. And we don’t have to sacrifice most of the things Nolan did that made the fans lose their ****.

I don't think that this collar is for protection, at ali.

For me, it's just a pulp-y element, that pay homage to noir and detective movies.

And if you think about the most famous Batsuit with collar, we have Gotham by Gaslight, which it is a noir and murder mistery history.

Batman Forever would be such a better movie with the deleted scenes.

I still think it's pretty decent, but Tommy Lee Jones ruined every scene he's in it, and all because of Jim Carrey's success.

Tommy Lee Jones over did it because of Jim Carrey?
