The BATSUIT Thread

I would really like to see something like this for "The Batman"

The only thing I like here is the black face. IF they ever did a suit with blue (dark dark, desaturated blue), I'd love for it to have the black face.

"I know what’s it's like to be in the suit," says Affleck, pondering the notion at the Beverly Hilton. "We’ll have to modify the suit to make it a little bit easier to put on and take off. When you are in it, you can be sweating, crazy and exhausted, do your part and walk away. But when you’re a director, you can’t walk away. You have to be there for everybody.

"Chief among the challenges of doing Batman, will be finding a suit that’s more comfortable," he says.

Well they could always go the Iron Man method.

So just give him a couple practical bat suit pieces. And fill the rest in with CG later. That way, it's like he's wearing PJs most of the time.

Maybe it's as simple as slimming it down a bit. You have to think all of that extra padding insulates heat. I would rather Batman not look so bulky anyway, so something that's closer to Affleck's actual frame would be ideal.

Excited to see what they come up with.

Yep. That's about the size of it (pun intended). Hopefully, with Snyder off the project, the obsession with jacked-up beefcakes will slide, and we'll get something a little more svelte and stylish.

Nah.

My requests for the solo film batsuit remain the same:

- Take the BvS suit and slim it down
- Make the cowl more form-fitting, and with longer ears
- Make the cape able to wrap around the body

Like I wrote this myself. This is exactly what I hope for too.

Not possible to make the cowl form fitting if you still want the head to move.
Jose Fernandez of Ironhead Studios has revealed some of the secrets in this video - the thick neck is paramount to having a moveable head.

This is what I assumed. I don't know why they just haven't removed the neck altogether, and digitally fill it in after the fact.

Considering the number of times this is done in these films already (they completely replaced Spider-man's costume in CW, and actors rarely wear real capes now,) I'm honestly surprised they haven't gone this approach yet.

Hell, Zod's armour was entirely cgi, and large sections in the titular fight of BvS involved cgi armour.

I'd say a prosthetic neck or CGI'ed neck are probably the best routes to go, if they want something flexible yet form-fitting.

I don't know, that'd need to be some damn impressive CGI to look right. If its visibly having the fabric extend and contract, that could be quite distracting during any closeup scenes.

Maybe he could wear an Arkham Knight-esque metal suit for the entire film. This would open up the option for Ben Affleck to Iron Man it. Ben doesn't have to wear the whole suit. They could CGI the rest

Considering the amount of times this is done in films today, I don't think it would be that difficult to pull off.

As much as most CGI (particularly full CGI characters) STILL can stick out like a sore thumb, these more subtle applications fly by even trained eyes all the time.

As someone who work's in FX and animation, I can tell you there have been PLENTY of times I was completely taken off guard when I learned of subtle CGI effects like this in films I've watched.

I love the suits that they've come up with so far in the DCEU films. They all fit Ben Affleck's Batman perfectly.

But I still want to see Batman on the GCPD rooftop completely enveloped in his cape just once. It's an iconic look, I don't know how it's been missed so many times on film.

Ive been saying this since before bvs. I mean why not just build a head piece that tapers into a cgi sleeve for the neck. Then go in and digitally connect the dots so to speak. I mean they do fine digitally crafting capes, and even entire sections of costumes like iron man, zod, batmans armor etc.

Snyder's cape isn't even long enough to close around him, and is basically pinned in place permanently. That's a huge missed opportunity. Especially for someone who loves cape porn so much.

It can be done with the the snyder cape. It just needs to be one thats made for filming scenes in that particular stance.

Yes! So much yes!

It literally cannot. I saw the cape in person, what you see on film is what you get. It couldn't even reach his chest.

What im saying is they should have had one to film specifically for those scenes. One that would drape over the chest.

Ah ok I got ya. His cape should have been more malleable in general. It's really rigid and pinned in place with that permanent fold on his shoulders.
