The BATSUIT Thread

No armor, please.

Indiana Jones = doesn't need armor.
Katniss Everdeen = doesn't need armor.
James Bond = no armor.
Ethan Hunt, nope.
Bruce Lee, nope.
Black Widow, nope.
Hawkeye, nope.
Rambo, nope.
Lara Croft, no.
John McClane, no.
The Bride (Kill Bill), no.

Batman should be written so that his detective/strategic/stealth/intimidation skills, along with his physical toughness preclude the need for "hockey pads" muddying the aesthetic of the otherwise iconic suit. And besides, aren't we done with the "needs to look like the real world" context?

I don't think the Caeser thing will apply to Batman. It wasn't Reeves who established the eyes carrying significant thematic value, that was established in the first movie. The whole "bright ayes" thing was an important thematical signifier of Caesar from the other Apes.

So Reeves can and should use the white eyes. It's time to stop running away from the iconography of this character. White eyes would work wonderfully in a moody detective Noir film WHERE Batman masks his emotions a bit. And again, they can have retractable lenses like Black Panther so that can solve the issue of "Him not being able to emote":

which in itself has never made much sense to me because the ENTIRE point of Batman is for him to appear as an otherworldly creature to the criminals that scowl the streets at night. He's not suppose to be showing emotions to any of these guys in the first place.

And there's another solution to the problem-- a prosthetic cowl! So we can get cheek and brow movement to help a white eyed Batman emote. I've always wanted to see a prosthetic cowl on Batman, imagine the cowl's brow/eyelids moving like this:

And I'd like it to be a softer material so we can have a scene of the mask being pulled back like a hood ala Niteowl in Watchmen. Time for hard rubber cowl to

The ideal Batsuit

Pretty cool. I'd remove all the unnecessary lines on the bodysuit, always hate that overly-busy stuff, Marvel's really guilty of it in the MCU too. Cool colors though, and that's a nice shape for the cowl. I'd probably want a *little* more Begins-y panther-neck, and lately kinda got a hankering for seeing the yellow logo again, but overall that's really nice. ^

Fair point. You could quite easily feature a Batman without armour. The problem comes with the fact that a dude dressed in skin tight material looks like a bit of a doofus - no matter how jacked he is. All those people you mention don’t wear a costume like Batman does.

I’m all for getting away with as little armour as possible though.

Armor or no armor - Batman isn't invincible either way. Routine is almost the same. But I feel he needs some detail on his torso so it doesn't look just like pajamas. So I'll agree with m1ll3r here. Stylized breastplate is fine, imo.

I'm fine with slightly tuned-up Batman Begins suit. Add flexible neck, change abs into something less rigid (maybe like a layered shell akin to Robin's outfit in Titans) so Batman can bend and I'm good.

Reference. Robin looks a bit over-designed, but you get the idea about the torso protection. It's mechanical part.

I also don't care about the suit having gray or blue colors. BLACK is good.

The armor just goes under the costume, easy.

High-end custom better-than-the-cops-and-military-have (Wayne Enterprises, yay) kevlar vest thingie, nothing to do with the "costume", gray fabric costume over it. No sculpted muscles, certainly no plates, just kevlar with a frickin' shirt over it. Bing bang boom.

Always hated how they tanked Daredevil up with armor in the show, too, ack. Affleck's one was made out of the wrong stuff, the leather was ridiculous, but at least the silhouette was right. Agile ninja guy.

Something a bit more akin to Captain America's costumes would be good. Maybe a bit more form-fitting.

Something like the Tron: Legacy suits that are made to be easy for the actors and stunt team to move in. Say it’s some special armor because he’s rich. Even Fisk walked around in armored business suits on Daredevil.

Black and gray color scheme.

The oval.

A utility belt that’s more New Batman Adventures than B:TAS. I’d prefer bronze, but I wouldn’t say no to black.

The bodysuit should be a durable-looking, dark gray fabric. I’d prefer the armor plating go underneath, but I’m not picky.

Hell no to the Arkham look. It's like a goddamn Rob Liefeld illustration or something, Batman for teenage boys who love Call Of Duty & dubstep or whatever.

Metal-looking cowl, armor just everywhere, ack. Dudebro "hardcore brah" Batman.

That really depends on which Arkham design you're talking about. Because the classic arkham design is pretty much standard batman fare.

Superman needs his trunks back too.

Makes more sense for Superman than Batman. Trunks are a bit cheesy, and there’s nothing wrong with a bit of cheese when it comes to Superman. Makes him more friendly (see Spiderman’s costume as an example).

Trunks on live action Batman? Um. No.

Hey remember the whole "we need the trunks to divide the shape in two otherwise it'll look weird" debate?

Fun times.

I also remember the nonstop "grey can't work, because it's not realistic enough" debates.

Homemade? For a billionaire?

Why would you ever want the batsuit to look homemade? :funny:
Is the movie not taking place during his earlier years? If he's starting out he's not going to have everything he had in BvS right away. It would be cool to see him modify his suit after his encounters but not right off the bat... Lol, bat.
