The BATSUIT Thread

Sure - go out to fight crime - who cares if the suit works - long as it looks cool!!

'Cause yeah, that's what we all walked out of Begins talking about in '05. "Ack! The suit doesn't work!"

You do this right, it won't even be a factor.

I’m out mate. I don’t even know what your initial point is!! I genuinely hope you like the new suit- enjoy the hype

The point is, if Batman can swivel his head around without having the neck look as "not Batman" as the Nolan sequels, great. Ideal situation, if you can figure out the panther neck with some neck movement, awesome.

Just don't put such a priority on it that you're willing to CG the damn suit. We all know how cruddy it looks on Spiderman, even with a pretty great design like the Homecoming suit.

This is still ideal for me

Or even that Pattinson Batman collectible somebody posted in the casting thread

Yeah, that really is great. I'd do away with all the overly-busy lines on the torso, just have it nondescript gray (Marvel overdesigns every one of their costumes to hell too, it's so unnecessary), but overall that's killer.

Definitely want the big prominent yellow utility belt this time around too, makes the whole visual pop a lot more. Probably the yellow logo on the chest rather than the black bat too, but overall loving that. ^

I'm guessing he means metal plates like Arkham Knight
You're guessing wrong. I mean he shouldn't look home-tailored like majority of MCU characters. I'm talking evolution of Returns and Begins suits.

Yeah, I could go make that Cap costume at home. Thor's, Clint's. Trip to the local fabric store, sewing machine how-to guide, boom!

I don't really like the MCU approach to things either, the "house style" where all the movies have a common design element, but c'mon, the "home tailored" stuff is ridiculous.

95% of their suits: fabric + leather + seams. There's nothing special about it. Outside Iron Man or Thor (or fake CGI Spider-Man), it's never something like this:

Evolution of Returns-Begins? So an updated take on matte, black body armor?

Since we had grey fabric recently, can't say I'm in love. So yeah, no thanks. Let's get back to black body armor.
We need to have an evolution of the ideas from the BvS suit (relatively simple design. Grey and fabric-based with armor plates going under the suit) not devolve into the 80s-early 2000s outdated mentality of giving Batman rubber body armor in order to look more realistic. We're past that phase and I hope we never go back.

Batman Noel is still the best Batman design you could do, in my opinion. That kind of design and texture would actually be possible to be translated into a comfortable and practical suit that looks awesome instead of a "I can barely breathe in this thing" nightmare.

Err, Boose, in real life behind-the-scenes that Begins suit would have been made out of rubber or something equivalent anyway. Readily-available stuff just like the Marvel materials. Different specifics, but not that different overall.

With...seams so Bale can get out of the damn thing. :)

How is that different?

I'm not a fan of the Noel suit as a standard Batsuit. The ab section/plates are overdesigned and the suit is not form-fitting, it's bulky. It's clearly the Batsuit adapted for Winter (The story is set around Holiday season after all)

I'm also not a fan of the way the bat symbol blends into the cowl. It's overall just an ugly design. Much like the TDK suit but in a different way.

I don't know how one could be opposed to a Batman suit having this kind of aesthetic and material.

Practical, looks cool, protective, enough simplicity to look classical, the plates don't stick out that much... it's pretty much the best of all worlds. Paint it grey and black, slap a bat logo there and you're set.

Rubber body armor doesn't look realistic. But it looks fancy and interesting like element of gadgetry and advanced equipment. I don't want Batman to look bland MCU-style. If they find a way to make body armor more flexible without sacrificing aesthetic side, I'll be happy.

Molding rubber/plastic is more complex and advanced than scissors and sewing machine. Yes, it's definitely different. And the effect is different.

Because Batman is traditionally portrayed as wearing a form-fitting suit that is sleek and relatively simple. The need to put him in body pads and SWAT armor to make him look "believable" seems to get lost in translation the fact that Batman is suppose to be ninja-lit. Lightning fast and soft on his feet. A sleek suit that accents the physique instead of hiding it is what the suit should look like imo.

The Cap suit is too padded. Make it more form fitting and I'd be fine with that. Still not ideal, though.

I remember seeing a manip someone did a few years ago that repurposed the Winter Soldier suit into a Batsuit and it look fine.

What I would go for is a material and aesthetic (without the lights of course) of the Tron Legacy suits. Instead of visible plates and pads, there would be seams/lines-raised segments of an otherwise streamlined design.

Picture something like this but without the neon lights.

And the suit would be highly flexible

It would be badass if we could finally have a Batman that can move like that

Wrong Marvel character.
