The BATSUIT Thread

The point is, if Batman can swivel his head around without having the neck look as "not Batman" as the Nolan sequels, great. Ideal situation, if you can figure out the panther neck with some neck movement, awesome.

Just don't put such a priority on it that you're willing to CG the damn suit. We all know how cruddy it looks on Spiderman, even with a pretty great design like the Homecoming suit.
No one has said that - but if the suit has a partial panther neck, with seams to allow for creases and the neck turns, a little cgi touch up to hide those seams isn’t going to hurt... not really sure why this is a hard concept.

This is still ideal for me

Or even that Pattinson Batman collectible somebody posted in the casting thread
Thing is - that whole neck area is black... unrealistic in real world - that’s why artistic license is a thing.. anyways the suit has divided people that’s for sure - batxit!!!!!

I don't know how one could be opposed to a Batman suit having this kind of aesthetic and material.

Practical, looks cool, protective, enough simplicity to look classical, the plates don't stick out that much... it's pretty much the best of all worlds. Paint it grey and black, slap a bat logo there and you're set.

100%
Personally, I think part of Batman's disguise should be a relative simplicity to the suit. Obviously it's a movie so it should look cool, but within the fiction of the story, people shouldn't be able to look at Batman see a lot of money at work. The tech in the suit should be hidden.

Also, this may be a minority opinion, but I'd love them to try to get some blue in there this tme.

Going for material/aesthetic similar Tron is the way to go imo. The suit should hug Bruce's body and not be obvious pads (like that Cap suit) or plates like Arkham Knight/TDK

I may just do an edit to see what it would look like

Well, the cowl seamlessly transitions/integrates into the cape - much like how it's traditionally portrayed. It doesn't look like a sti8ff rubber material. What that would probably call for is a cowl made out of a pleather-like material.

I'm all for trying something new. I'm also in favor of the slight CG enhancements idea. As long as the suit doesn't end up looking like the Spider-Man HC one. But a CG Cape (to allow for mobility for the actor) and spaces filled in on the neck could go a long way in reevaluating what Batman looks like on film.

Kilmer fit the suit the best. He wasn't fat, thin, short. Kilmer sounded the best too.

I think they sort of have to if they're going for a slimmer Batman. The short ears only look good when Batman is drawn to be quite large (Frank Miller, Jim Lee).

Batfleck's cowl with longer ears would be my preference. As long as it can do the full cloak thing too, covering his front as well as the back. With the cape flipped back and folded over the shoulders like it has been for years has grown tired visually for me.

That's so similar tho to what we got with Batfleck.

Kilmer, Keaton - they looked great, but it was obvious the costumes were heavy and restrictive - mainly because keaton wasn't a bulky guy to begin with and hard to imagine it wasn't anything but mental rage and adrenaline getting him through.

I feel like they could go back to the begining of Batman, similar how 'the spider-man' was almost a creepy, horror comic - like the fly, where an experiment went wrong and this man with spider traits tragically tries to do good but freaks out people with his posturing and costume.... there's a few great youtube videos on this.

It could be great if the batman wasn't at all seen as heroic, but this scary, weird man going about the streets, gaining vengence etc and cleaning up the city - i feel burton tapped into that slightly but then lost it in Returns and to an extent in BvS.

Have this urban legend around gotham's rooftops that freaks people out, but what they do see of him, what the eye witness reports state is that he's this weird beast like man, creepy etc and more like a man bat than a bat man and Bruce uses theatrics as cover and instead of these heroic gargoyle poses, he's more like nosferatu up there. Instead of rippling muscles it's shadows and we just see cowl and cape a lot, lurking, it's almost like he avoids light - like true ninja's. Picture the Begins 'port scene' where he dropped down with the tone, atmospherics of the opening roof top scene of B89 with the cowl of Batfleck and eyes of Keaton... i'd like that, a lot.

Yeah, those are pretty much Snyder/Affleck in every way that matters. ^ Been there, done that.

Leaning on the horror aspects of Batman is something I’d like to see done more.

“Criminals are a cowardly and superstitious lot”.

The Begins port scene is the only sequence on film that really leans into the horror trope, and stands as one of the best because of this.

Give us a suit that reflects this. No bulky WWE wrestler... but a swift, horrific monster.

What would that look like, exactly? Because a prosthetic cowl plays into idea.

@Aximili86 Affleck's was basically the classic Batman look as is the MKVSDC. So if Reeves wants his Batman to be comic accurate there will inevitably be similarities to whatSnyder did.

I could go for something like this

Well, Snyder's take on the costume was "classic Miller". And I actually like classic Miller. But we've just seen that, very recently.

Let's go earlier than Miller, more 70s, or a little later with that Jim Lee look. Slimmer Batman, that sharper-looking cowl, all of that.

Actually I like that, but instead of purple gloves. I'd like to see the inside of the cape dark purple. To enrich the costume and nod to the purple gloves.
