The BATSUIT Thread

All that was done is a change in lighting/mood. That has almost zero to do with the actual color themselves.

The following Jim Lee-inspired cowl was made by sculptor extraordinaire Shawn Reeves aka ReevzFX using an authentic cast of Pattinson's face (yep, he's got connections).

Still think the blue and grey looks perfectly fine - even for a noir setting. My mind won't change on that. Sorry, fam.
It would have to be a very dark blue, though.

I honestly think a blue similar to the Captain America suit would work just fine within a particular aesthetic. I truly think that, and I won't budge on it. :funny:

I concede that I'd have a hard time buying it in a movie that looked like the Nolan films. But a movie that looked like the Blade Runner films? It'd fit perfectly.

Having said that, smart money is on black.

Anything is possible but... I wouldn't hedge my bets on this film having a Blade Runner aesthethic. Reeves has not mentioned that film at all in any interviews or tweets, not even as a favorite noir or as one of his favorite movies. His favorite Deakins shot film isn't even 2049. Taxi Driver seems more likely.

Its premature to make any assumptions about Reeves' aesthetic, regardless of what his favorite films may be.

He's not making Taxi Driver. He's adapting a comic book franchise. And the graphic novels he specifically cited as some of his favorites are not shy about their heightened, comic-booky aesthetics.

I mean, I guess, but all this time he's had the Thank God For The Rain on an endless loop while writing the script. That's probably the best lead we have at this time as to what his aesthethic will be.

Also I hope Mario is wrong again but this time about the leather thing. This suit should have zero leather. It looks horrible.

Music does not indicate aesthetic. It indicates mood.

Skin tight leather cowl

Just figure out the cape and cowl, man. Get those right, and you've got one happy customer right here.

Very dark blue that pretty much looks like black... and at that point you should just do black. It's pointless.

Color matters when it comes to what light( if any) is bouncing off it.

Blue and grey against a neon Iceberg Lounge sign isn’t the same as an all black suit.

Noir aesthetic is about what is seen and what isn’t. Shadows, smoke, direct, and indirect light.

I wouldn't mind having several Batsuits as the story moves along. And in the earlier versions, I'd definitely take some leather.

You know what, as much as I've been against the idea of a blue Batsuit onscreen, this is a valid point. So long as it's an extremely dark blue ala Captain America's Stealth Suit in The Winter Soldier and a relatively dark gray, the combo could work very well on the big screen.

It just can't be the brighter tones that were used back in the Neal Adams era. That runs the risk of looking a bit too cartoony IMO. But a darker blue and gray combo? That could definitely look sick as suggested here.

We're taking an awful lot about the costume, but something that's been on my mind is that I just hope that the first time we see it, it's something dynamic.

That first pic of Bale crouched down in that pose with the cape flowing around him? Dynamic.

A black and white pic of Affleck moping in a warehouse? Not dynamic.

Nah. The Batfleck reveal was god-tier. I stared at that pic for hours in total.

Just as long as it immediately evokes the character, rather than something weird (looking at you Leto's Joker), we should be fine.

Yeah, Leto's first image as Joker immediately signalled "Oh, this version of the character is going to suck."

Hoping it doesn't happen this time here.
