The BATSUIT Thread

Ironically I think people are overreacting to what appears to me to be a very tame reaction to a pretty godawful looking suit. The response has been pretty kind, considering.

The suit is mixed. Some parts look ok while overall it looks like someone blended swat gear with league of shadows costumes.

The symbol looks really cool and I dig the chest part of the suit. The short arrow gauntlets are interesting. What is total garbage is the cowl and ears. That is straight up craptastic

I’m curious nobody has mentioned it. Is this a scene where Batman is out during the day? LOL that’s pretty important. Or do you think they’re going to edit it to look like night time

Batman was out in the day during TDKR. The night only bat-rule isn't very set on stone, depending on the creative.

Obvious is obvious ... you stated your thoughts, he stated his.

Only on SHH do you guys get so sensitive over words or opinion to the point of needing to restate “hey that’s like your opinion, man” ... stop being so soft.

Jesus we get into actual funny alpha dog fights in other boards I’m on without near this level of over sensitivity.

Most of you would get eaten alive.
Cool.

This guy has been on the money with his information on this movie. Hinting at another suit in the movie or the next one.

Grow up.

Not going to lie, this is damn near spot on. And that comes from somebody who was ecstatic with the first teaser look
There was a sense of sleekness and sharpness to that first look that made it work for me but seeing the rest of the suit and the cowl is just... Not working for me

I guess we can kiss the notion of a more stealth-oriented, ninja Batman goodbye because I can't see Batman using stealth or Pattinson performing dynamic fight moves in bulky armor like that. I fully expect a return to the stiff, brawler style

I’m saying we don’t know if this is intended to be the day, or they’re going to edit it to make it tonight. Batman was out during the day during risers but that was under extreme duress in a certain set of circumstances. Namely a nuclear bomb threatening the city LOL Normally the character is very much a kin to Dracula. He works best, and primarily comes out at night

It is more bulky than what I was expecting. Based on what (admittedly little) we see in the officially released camera test, I was expecting a leaner, sleeker suit that was more form-fitting (in a complimentary way) to Pattinson's slim physique.

I'm just not feeling the cowl and the Black Widow gauntlets atm, everything else is fine. The cowl looks way better in the camera test, so I hope it just looks that way for stunt rehearsals.

The belt I especially like. I think it's the best belt we've gotten so far. Only wish it was brown or yellow-ish. Right now the suit is very lacking in color.

I’m feeling this as a more successful take on the TDK armor, with a more hand crafted vibe that I dig. Also the seeing a bit of Arkham Origins, which is kinda cool. Kinda bummed that it’s getting such stark, polarized reactions. It’s not what I was hoping for, but hey, I’ll roll with it.

Much of the suit isn't a bunch of pieces of overdesigned pleather that we have to imagine might somehow be armor instead of pleather art, so it's got that going for it, too.

The main complaint about this seems to be that it looks like sort of cobbled together. Yeah. That's the point. It's very, very clearly not supposed to be Batman at his zenith. He's riding around on an old motorcycle.

I just noticed his pants are like chaps that lace up.

Anyway, I'm not positive about this, but there are closeups of the gauntlets where you can see what appears to be a mechanism to load/fire projectiles from the gauntlet. So maybe they're Azrael/Huntress style weapons, or maybe they are in fact pitons for some kind of built in grappling system.

There are also some images of what look like some kind of wires/tubes running up his arm, threaded into the suit. Could be something designed just for the stunt suit...part of the wrist mechanism, or some kind of built in harness/bracing system for grappling? That could be an explanation for the sort of "brace" look around the shoulders.

I also feel it's kinda at odds with the focus on Detective aspect of Batman. This looks like a dude who is about to be shipped out to another country to fight a war. I understand that it's the "War on crime" but I feel a sleeker design would have fit a young Batman who more of a detective investigator and less of a guerrilla soldier locked into a war on crime. This is what Nolan focused on.

That's the vibe I got from that first look. A much quieter, subdued Batman who doesn't get into slugfest with a criminal but takes him down in a precise manner.

Just like we have to imagine the character of Bruce Wayne being a Batman himself? :funny:

This logic is stupid af.

Take for instance these pictures. That suit looks goofy as ****.

But it’s the stunt suit.

Meaning, the real “hero” version of the suit isn’t really functional in REAL life. Thus, it’s all pretend.

Just like Chris Evans isn’t really a super soldier in real life and we have to make believe.

Or Tony Stark aka Robert Downey Jr isn’t actually wearing a super impractical advanced weaponized jet suit of armor.

:whatever:

Do you know how dumb that sounds, Guard?

It’s crazy, when I was 18 or 19 years old, I used to think you were smart on these boards.

I also have never understood your affinity for pot shots at the Nolan franchise. Yet I will see you bend over backwards to defend things much worse.

Is it because your script you used to let us read back in the day was just a poor man’s version of the Nolan brothers?
