totally, it just seems weirdly erotic that Bruce would be interested in making the armour look organic - the jl suit, as large, puffy as it was, was way better.
Totally agree.
I mean people have commented on the bat suit being a fetish suit before.
But I mean the Schumacher and Snyder ones take the cake with it. Fetish and weirdly erotic is right about the male figure but to exaggerating and ridiculous extents.
I don’t picture Bruce being that meticulous in designing musculature of the male figure let alone to erotic levels.
Or exaggerating the proportions. Affleck was thick but he wasn’t THAT big, he definitely wasn’t muscular and cut, but he damn sure wasn’t that big in the suit. It just reeked of looking over sculpted to fetish levels.
Hell, they did it to Henry Cavill in his BvS suit too and he actually was in brilliant shape. But the over design musculature cheapened everything. And made it look comical.
The only suit that works with the organic musculature is the 89 suit.
It’s designed though just to look like subdued Greco Roman body armor. And is accentuated by the fact there is other visible means of armor like on the forearms. But it doesn’t look like hyper stylized fetish male figure obsessive. Like someone was busting in their paints while designing it. Just looks like organic body armor that gives a vague human - creature esque look which is the point.
And even then, the brilliance of the 89 suit, the cape drapes over And engulfs the entire body to hide it in most cases. It’s definitely not there to be shown off.
Also helps that Michael Keaton played the role like a corky, neurotic, Crazy, tough bad ass.
It made the suit work. He’s not the biggest actor to play the character, yet he by far is the most intimidating. He makes the suit work for HIM. Not the other way around.
Because let’s be honest, Ben Affleck looked hilarious in that puffy, overly sculpted, unbelievably huge suit that just made him look puffy and fat and bloated with double chins on screen.
