The BATSUIT Thread

Plus when Reeves talks about the film being realistic he has followed it up with mentioning the consequences and functionality of someone like Batman/Bruce in the real world and ties it back into the humanist angle he's trying to achieve. His comments haven't been focused on the limitations of Batman in the real world or how practical he can make his Batman. That's one of the things The Dark Knight Trilogy was known for, I don't think Reeves will want to retread that water. Instead as mentioned above it looks heavily stylized with a specific vision/direction.

yup yup yup

There's absolutely nothing about this batsuit that even remotely suggests it'll follow on Burton's footsteps. Aside from Batfleck, it's the most different live action batsuit from Burton.
Who said it will follow on from Burton?

If you're referencing me, I feel that, when all said and done, the final bat suit if we even ever get one, when compared to other costumes from the catalogue, it will look, in my mind to B89. B89 has a refined, but amateur look to it, esp the returns suit, in comparison to the hi-tech Bale suit, the fantastically comic accurate Batfleck costume - which looks like sponge padding.

anyways...

I kinda like how they haven't totally pared him back, but (based on the car at least) shown him with tech that looks like he could conceivably have put together himself.

I always preferred the Batman stories where he built his own tech, which highlights his scientific knowledge - something often overlooked in favour of his 'world's greatest detective' skills. The two kinda go hand in hand; as a one man show (ok, two if you include Alfred!) he's often having to analyse chemicals and hardware and so on as part of his investigations, which requires a fair amount of scientific knowledge anyway. He's the detective but also the forensic scientist.

Nolan's films were great but one of my gripes was that Bruce didn't create a whole lot. Much of his kit was sourced from Fox and then modified. The Batmobile was a key example, being a wholly military vehicle which was repurposed by Bruce. This one looks very home brewed.

Great post. You've expressed it well, what I was thinking. It looks like Bruce made these items, the suit, the gadgets, the bike but also had some fun with them - which reminds me of the B89 world, where they look custom made, with some fun - in comparison to Bale where he just took military garb and sprayed it black, using it for function, without really just having some fun along the way, of course the ear piece was fun, but yeah... this looks like a young man who still has a unique sense to him and has sense of (dark) humour in this.

I'm sure they won't be there in the movie. I also notice the collar seems shorter in the screen test than in the set pics.

I posted that a few days ago. These suits really stand a decent guide line to what this suit has turned out like. And I like that the suit is actually more grey than we even realized initially

That's cool I just feel like it would be too bulky almost too move around in real life with that suit on. The gauntlets are quite bulky, and they'd almost look like they'd get in your way and also same with the biceps guard thing. It's cool though, it makes you wonder, does batman get into that many sword fights? lol. Knife fights all the time, eh.

It depends how you portray Batman I guess whether he just stands there or if he moves around a lot, or if he's slower and more methodical about how he approaches the villains, like he expects to take more hits or something.

Something to bear in mind though, is that it's possible the differences could be down to the suit in the set pics being a stunt suit, and the camera test suit being a 'Hero' suit.

What I'm curious to know, is that whether the lenses in the set pics are just there for the stunts, or whether they have decided to go with them on the suit entirely.

I can't tell whether there are lenses here or not?

It doesn't look like it, but if he ends up with lenses, considering these past two months have been in the world, nothing can surprise me anymore lol.

He doesn't. It's just the angle.

Maybe the lenses are only for when he rides. If they're a part of the film.

Yeah plus the rainy elements made me think it was a precaution for the stuntman. I think the scene might have artificial rain if the weather didn’t permit, hence the lenses of the eyes. But I’m just speculating.

I'd be willing to put money down that the lenses we saw were only there for the stunt. But I've been wrong before.

The stitches really doesn't bother any one you? Kinda ruins it for me because I just feel without that stitches line, it would pretty much be perfect and magnificent
