The BATSUIT Thread

Assuming the suit we see in the BTS shots is accurate to how the suit will look in movie ( ie, after all the post production witchcraft )? Looks fine to me. It manages to look "plausible" without looking banal. Its doesn't look like superscience* magic, and it doesn't look like a leather and plastic body suit; instead if looks like something made of real materials put together in a way that allows for protection, mobility, and stealth. My hypothetical "perfect Bat costume" looks a lot like the late gen Captain America costumes with different theming; this looks pretty close to what I'd imagine the "generation three" precursor to that kind of thing would look.

*There isn't anything actually wrong with superscience costumes, intrinsically. Its just, people seem to not want Batman to actually be a superscience wizard most of the time. This puts boundaries on how fantastical his costume can reasonably be. Sadly, the often desired "one piece textured long underwear" falls on the other side of those boundaries, IMO. Real fabric works in certain ways, and its hard to disguise those limits with Hollywood magic when you are simultaneously insisting that, no, this costume isn't magic, its totally real.

Actually, the suit looks better on the stuntman IMO. To me, the suit looks clumsy, bulky, busy and sometimes plain ugly. I know that right now it's cool to bash the Burton/Synder/Shcumacher suits, but I think that those suits in their own right look much better; this suit reminds me of something from the aborted Miller/Aronosky Year One project, and not in a good way. The cowl looks like something from an S&M shop, the body armor looks like riot gear and the boots are something you'd find in a military surplus store; I thought that a noir Batman would look like nightmarish, not robotic or military. I hoped that this kind of suit was a thing of the past, after the atrocious Bale suit(the second one at least, because the first was GREAT).

The suit looks meh in set pics but Pattinsman looked intimidating walking toward Gordon and beating the crap out of that unfortunate thug in the trailer so I’m happy with it. It’s still WORLDS better than Bales second suit that actually made him look small.

One of my favorite things about the suit is the shorter cape honestly, in concept I'd hate it, but the execution looks great imo
Agreed. The length works perfectly with the suit. From the look of the way it’s attached I’m holding out hope it can close all the way around him as well

I’m digging the shorter cape as well but I really like the expressionless cowl. There’s just something more intimidating about a cowl without the sculpted angry face that makes Batman seem more dead in the eyes, so to say.

Weird comparison but I think Pattinson’s eyes give him a Michael Myers level of scary, don’t eff with me vibe.

Definitely see the Michael Myers vibe. I think the more neutral expression also allows us to project a wider range of emotions onto Batman. It works for a more intellectual, detective oriented portrayal of the character.

100% yes. Everything Matt Reeves is doing with the character screams emotional driven Batman. This is what made Keaton’s performance definitive. Not the biggest guy like Batfleck (who I loved) but psychologically scary af. It’s all in the eyes.

Hopefully critics won’t bury him under “too serious” and not fun enough.

Since his casting I’ve been sold on Pattinson as this kind of cross between Keaton and Bale. He absolutely has the potential to be the best live action Batman we’ve had.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone bash the Burton suits.

Same opinion. Take away the s/m mask and the cape and he looks like a guy from the riot police. The suit doesnt even give him an outstanding physique which would separate him from an average police dude.

Maybe the second suit has a more extraordinary feel too it cause everything else looks fine. The movie will still be fire but fingers crossed

I love the idea of him being able to glide. Something I didn't expect out of this.

A wingsuit is classic Batman.

Definitely looks like a wing suit. Not sure that it's a function of his cape though, looks more like he's just wearing a wing suit over his batsuit.
