The BATSUIT Thread

But Pattinson is buff and he does have a really prominent square-ish jaw, certainly more so than a bunch of other Batman actors.
Yeah I didnt get The Bagman comment either, Pattinson has the best jawline from all of the past Batman actors, its like..his most prominent feature, I bet that is the reason Reeves went with such a wide mouth opening for the cowl.

Oh god, i get flashbacks to the guy who was so obsessed with Pattinsons Physic. XD XD

Honestly, in my experience, Batman in the comics is usually not that giant *relative to other superheroes*. Yes, he's ridiculously muscular and buffed out compared to a real world human, but he's only average bulky compared to other spandex-wearers. Which means, IMO, a live action version similarly shouldn't look like Arnold or the Rock, either.

He's got a nose like Artie Lange.

I gotta just say this shot of the contact lens at the beginning gives me some hope that all the retina/iris scanning stuff I've been talking about over the years (in the modern era of tech, it's Bruce Wayne's single biggest vulnerability in people learning he's batman) might actually be addressed...

So as far as a modern update of the Returns suit goes, Keaton's new suit (presumably the same in The Flash and Batgirl) is a pretty nice one (and yeah, that's obviously a stuntman). I wish it was more 89 inspired, if not a bit more daring of a redesign while carrying over aspects of his old suits, but hey it's pretty nice.

That looks beautiful...Dare I say I like it even more than Pattinson's suit.

I don't love this new Bat-Suit, I don't hate it.

I'm fine with it. But I wouldn't know why some say it's the best ever.

It's cool, but definitely not one I want Battinson to be stuck with for an entire series. I'm more interested in the suits in Film 2 and 3.

Now that I’ve seen the film I can definitely say that I don’t like this suit. The cowl makes it look like he has a bulbous head.

Like all Batman movies, there are a few wonky or questionable shots of the suit, but it looked great overall and really worked for Battinson and what the film was going for.

The suit was excellent and only hope for minor tweaks for the sequel.
The modification I would make:
sharpen the bridge of the nose
give the symbol the bat head
"sharpen" the top on the boots
put scallops on the cape

and that's pretty much it. I love all of the stitching and self-made feel of the suit.

I really love the suit. It looks so great in the movie in the dark lighting. But like the TDK trilogy, live action Batman movies still dislike the use of Batarang in them. I hope to see it in the sequel.

Anyone knows the function of the needles on the suit gauntlets? I don't think he uses it in the movie.

Yeah, Batman's most iconic gadget is still underused in live action. No movie used them properly, in my opinion. Hope they fix this someday.
And those are the hooks of the grapple, at least that's what I saw.

After seeing the suit in its full capacity. I have mixed feelings . Certain shots in darkness make the suit very intimidating and frightening. And then there's other times the suit looks unflattering.

The cowl needs more improvement, the shoulder cape needs to go. It felt disjointed when he turned his neck.

I actually love love loved the suit in motion. It’s actually very close to the R Grampa suit I’ve been dreaming of for years. Yeah it’s goofy looking at times in certain angles, but I feel like that works artistically for this iteration. This Batman is a legitimate weirdo.

Loved the gadgets, big time. So much practicality and thought - I really felt that everything had its place. Also as a staunchly pro-lens guy, I’m thrilled with how they addressed that problem.

Batman works his tools like a close-up magician. I rewatched the Catwoman safe cracking clip endlessly and still don’t totally know how he is using the grapple gun. His motions are so fluid, it’s crazy.

I don’t know if spoilers are allowed here, so I won’t say what other surprises lurk in this suit, but I was blown away. Best Bat-Gadgets on film imho.

As to the silver gauntlet rods… There’s only one very explicit scene in which you can clearly see one possible utility, but it’s not enough to know for sure if it’s used for more than that one very case-specific usage without multiple viewings. So, even having watched this guy work his ass off up close for 3 hours, I love that his technique is already so masterful that I can’t say for sure what he does with the gadgets he is literally wearing on his sleeves.

The gadgets are probably what will have me going back for a 2nd viewing.

Yeah, the darts on his arms never getting used is weird, as is the fact that there's zero in-story reason for the weird design of the chest emblem. It has a functional use but there's no reason it couldn't have just been a regular batarang type shape and fulfilled the same purpose.

I really hope the next movies just take what works about this suit and refine it. I like the torso design (apart from the emblem), I just wish the arms and legs were more unified with it. I like the leather cowl and the cape having a separate collar from the cowl (both ideas I came up with probably 20 years ago now), but I wish the collar would actually hug his neck and close up in front, to look more neck-like.

The torso is very similar to the Enemy Within version, I recently noticed.

The scene that cements this as the best batsuit is incredibly simple.
In one of the first fights at the Iceberg Lounge, there is a medium shot of Batman jumping over a rail that's above his waist, only to land below and keep fighting, in the same take. I simply can't imagine any other batsuit accomplishing a scene like this and keeping it as fluid.

The sound editing of this suit was gorgeous. Every scene you feel his boots, you sense his cape... Pattinson also really makes that suit sing with even the smallest gestures, let alone in the fights.

Everyone, please keep spoilers tagged through opening weekend. Thanks!
