The BATSUIT Thread

True, Affleck's suit got the right foundation but executed not so well.
Battinson's suit grew on me SO MUCH that I really don't want a drastically different suit next time.
Oddly enough, I prefer the concept art for Affleck's solo film over his comic accurate BvS/JL suits.
I don't like either personally. The concept art is the same sort of over techy junk that we got with the TDK/R suit and the BvS/JL suits are just more of the same old crappy foam latex moulded muscle rubber suits that we got since 1989. The Snyder Suits are non-sensical in that they draw inspiration from The Dark Knight Returns' big, bulky, out of shape older Batman while trying to give him Olympia muscle definition. It just looks silly in my opinion. And the Justice League suits have the worst cowl designs ever, apart from Gotham's monstrosity.

For my tastes, The Batman suit does much better jobs of being accurate to the comics in terms of both aesthetics and functionality. The field grey military type fabric bodysuit has been what I have wanted to see forever. And I love how the armour plating actually has the texture of some form of carbon fibre/ceramic.

I agree about the exaggerated sculpting in Batfleck's suit, it definitely needed to be slimmed down, but I still like it and I think it does look good at some shots/angles.. Of course, different tastes afterall! Execution wasn't that great really, and I'm not a fan of the concepts either.

I gotta say that a better look at Keaton's new Batsuit just makes me love the one Glyn Dillon and co. gave us even more:

It looks like an overdesigned parody of 90s black sculpted rubber superhero costumes.

Well, in its defense, I suspect that's actually the point. I wouldn't say it's parody however, for me it's more that our perception of this kind of costume has evolved.
Anyway, I quite like it. On an other hand though, even being aware that "behind the scene" pics can loks occasionally a bit off, I'd say that this cowl feels like the less well tailored Keaton had. We'll see !

...*sigh*
I still have a hard time telling myself that they managed to bring Keaton back to finally drop him in what is, honestly, a brain dead franchise. I'm afraid Birdman is about to gain some irony very soon... But I digress ahah.

I like that 19 is basically the White Knight symbol.

And 13 is just a normal Bat-symbol.

So 22 was the actual symbol they went with?

Some of them look so familiar & I can't quite put my finger on where from. 6 for example, I have seen something similar to that somewhere before.

13 also looks like its from some animated version I've seen before.

I wasn't actually that keen on Snyder's big Bat symbol but 24 doesn't actually look that bad even though if put into production onto a suit it would probably look something similar.

6 is basically the Batman Beyond symbol, while 13 is more or less the symbol on DCAU Batman's JL suit

Idk, I think Keaton's suit looks pretty cool. Doesn't seem all that out of place with the design of his other two suits. I could picture it as the alt. universe "Batman 3" suit. Guess I can't shake off my inner 90s kid. :oldrazz:

I respect that but I think the 89 and Returns suit feel more authentic they felt timeless not just part of there specific year they came out.

They were the best possible versions of the costume they could be ar the time and we're revolutionary.

This feels like it's trying to hard to be retro and nostgila bait.

it still looks pretty cool but it feels pretty corporate which Keaton's old costume didn't at least to me.

It's honestly a representation of the larger problem I have with bringing Keaton back.

Batman isn't really the same as Spiderman where you can take a previous actor bring him back and his respective version with a brand new creative team.

Micheal Keaton will be great but his Batman belongs with Tim Burton and those film's.

He had his time and it was glorious.

But everything that made his character special came from the heart and creative team that was back in those times.

This is always gonna feel like a misjudged attempt to replicate that and not feel natural and authentic because frankly it isn't.

You can't bring back Bale without the people behind the dark knight trilogy.

Just like you couldn't do the same with Robert and Matt Reeves.

I just feel like brining back past version of Batman without the context resources and people that made them what they were isn't a good idea.

If I want to watch Michael Keaton Batman I can just watch Batman 89 and Returns.

Honestly you have a valid point. It could fall flat or even end up being terrible but I think the main reason that image charms me is just knowing that's actually Michael Keaton under there and I think he will give it an honest effort and it's not just a paycheck to him. Even without Burton involved, there is just something to be said for the simple pleasure of seeing a childhood hero return decades later in a totally new context. Or at least the potential of that. In a world where No Way Home exists, I think that's just where superhero pop culture is now.

Again...could completely misfire. But I'm just too damn curious to see Keaton play this role again that I will suffer multiple Ezra's. :oldrazz:

I wonder what Keatons longevity will be in this role. Like for him and for WB especially after the comments made by the new top brass.

That's the thing for me as well.

Keaton is just so damn good in the role and great actor in general that I'm willing to see his I assume different take on the same character.

I'm really interested in how what his morals Bruce Wayne and Batman personality have evolved or stayed the same.

And what his dynamic will be other more optimistic heros.

Lmao. Imagine saying all of that right after No way Home. Jon Watts had nothing to with the Raimi films. His treatment of Tobey, Doc Ock and Goblin were still good. It’s definitely possible the same can happen with Keaton.

Not saying it's impossible but I do think it will be harder.

Some very cool BTS close-ups of the construction of the Batsuit from the special features:

Gotta love the texture of the carbon fibre mesh on the chest plate:

Or the contrasting nylon fabric loops holding the grapple pitons in place:

Look at that leather texture and the actual stitching on the cowl:

The costume department handstitched together the cowl:
