Caprica was kind of slow in the pilot but it seems like it could be interesting as it builds up.

In hindsight, it's a wonder Leoben didn't receive any strange visions. Damn near every other character on the show did. Laura, Starbuck, Capri Six, Athena, Hera, Baltar, D'anna...

Perhaps the movie "The Plan" which focuses on the Cylons will explain.
I personally kind of liked the fact they kept certain aspects a mystery.
Although I'm sure they could explain it in logically in a superior manner, I hated what George Lucas did in the Phantom Menace, he took "the force" and turned it into cold hard statical based fact with "Midichlorian count" which went against what "the force" was suppose to be, it was downright stupid. It would have been better if he never attempted to explain it at all.

agreed. There are certain themes in the show, where had they tried to put concrete explanations behind it, would have ruined the ending. In the end, i like the matrix-esque explanation, that the right combination of peoples in the right place and time, in the right random universe, could come together to save what's left of the human race. I prefer the idea of random nature, than trying to explain that which cannot be explained.

I FINALLY made it all the way through Battlestar Galactica. The climax was FRAKKIN' EPIC! I have no idea how much Universal must have spent on that thing, but I can imagine it was comparable to the budget of a theatrical movie, because that's what it looked like. In addition to having as much dog fights and Cylon shootouts as pretty much the whole rest of the series put together, it also had footage shot all around the world in Vancouver, Africa, and New York. It was a bittersweet ending, but satisfying nonetheless. I think I'd buy the Blu-Ray of this series just to see the last episode again in 1080p HD.

I'm pretty sure it was all shot in Vancouver, with a couple of side trips to Alberta for the 'Africa' scenes.

Yea, the Resurrection Hub battle was stunning, although short it was really jaw dropping to watch, scenes like in the third season "Well that's it" was quite haunting. Budget is probably very little compared to something like the new starwars movies but it was done far, far better in execution in my opinion.

Brilliant show.

Throughout that whole finale all I could say through all the bittersweet endings was "As long as Baltar doesn't cry - I won't cry". Well he cried. :(

I rewatched all three parts of Daybreak.... I have to admit, I got a little teared up. It was just a beautifully executed finale.

The Plan is floating around on the infonet if anyone was wondering

"What's with all the naked Cloe going on here... isn't she supposed to be 15 in the series?
Which demographic are they trying to attract with these photos... Roman Polanski?""

lol.

she's kind of like a sharon apple now

1/2 way through, and it's F'n brilliant.

when you guys catch up, I'm sure you'll be pleasantly blown away by this movie. The narrative is brilliantly weaved into the events of the series, up to the rescue of the resistance off of Caprica. This will be a fantastic lead in to Caprica.

It's was good to see the number 4 cylon get some screen time, seemed somewhat absent during the main show. I think it ended abit abruptly, didn't feel like much of a closure to me, if it was shown during that time period of the show than when it ended, it probably would have been more satifying I think. I also think they moved away from the number 2 Kara Thrace thing too abruptly, it seemed touched upon than explored. Enjoyed it alot though, the John Cavil character is great.
When he stabbed the kid and brushed his off the bed like fluff it was pretty unexpected and a good contrast compared to the other models

I agree. The ending was kind of empty. I'd call The Plan: BSG, the cylon perspective, Part 1. Where the movie ends though, is at the point where New Caprica is almost discovered. From that point on in the series actual, we know the cylon perspective (which I'd call part 2 to the above part 1).

The contrast between the 2 Johns was great, but the lesson learned by 'Caprica John' was slightly vague.

Did love how the 4 got a lot of play, more than being the hollow character it was during the series. Loved how the 5's are so bloody pathetic.

Leoben's obsession: it was interesting, but I would have liked to see a little more revelation into Starbuck than what was expressed.

what I really loved about the movie is the motivations behind the individual cylon's actions. Mainly Boomer, but also the 4 married to the knuckle dragger. And the explanation of the Chief's suicidal dream.

who left the note was never answered, but the film makes it clear that it was either Cavill, or one of the final five, as we know the other conflicted cylons in the fleet don't know about the three fathers and 2 mothers.

and lastly: I loved how Cavill was about to enjoy the total destruction of humanity, and teaching his lesson to the 5, when Ellen threw it all in his face, in her evil drunken milfy way.

(but was dissappointed they couldn't get Lucy in there to complete the 11/12 cylons alive, even if they couldn't get her for new footage, they could have inserted old film of her just to be complete)

Yes surprisingly
When it appeared the Number 4 model was about to blow up the ship but in actuality was committing suicide
I thought it was one of the best moments in movie.

I didn't quite understand how Leoben hiding and listening to a radio equaled seeing the Kara Thrace character is important though or how why painting the eye or storm or how that related to him physicaly painting with Kara Thrace later in season 4, seemed somewhat vague. I loved the music at the end credits, great soundtrack for that show.

was just thinking 'bout what you wrote about how this would have fit better in the middle of the series: problem is the final 5. That reveal didn't happen til well after New Caprica, so the telling of the story in the plan would have been problematic.

indeed, that suicide really put things into perspective.

we certainly need more explanation on the leoben/kara thing. But, perhaps Kara flying the raider is far more important than we think? I dunno, seemed pretty vague none the less to me.

That's true.
Don't quite get that either, when Helen is deliberately put on the ship, she seems unaware she is Cylon but as soon as she wakes on the Cylon ship during the new Caprica occupation, she appears to remember everything, I assume she downloaded memory's?

I think John stated that they wouldn't get their memories back fully, until they died and downloaded and resurrected. When Ellen is on the medical ship, she still doesn't really know who Cavill is, and I don't think she died... Cavill helped her survive the bombings, but she was clearly off in la la land due to her injuries. The other 4 got the limited revelation of what they were from the music.

it was really nice to see the assault on the colonies, which is something that has been absent from the series. I was also nice to see what each of the colonies looked like, and how they were all culturally/architecturally different.

also it's interesting. Up until Cavill was revealled, the cylons had a unified plan. But after it seems that the 'lesser' cylons had taken over, or atleast diminished Cavill's authority. It seems like with NC, a friendlier, although much less informed Cylon had taken over... until Cavill forced the civil war.

This movie could so use a Part II

Good movie. "The Plan" seems to be much over of Cavill's plan than the cyclon's plan though.

Also I found the T&A marketing for this movie was misleading but kinda funny.

I lol'd at the random zoom in of a guy's junk in that shower scene.

Pretty great movie, loved the Four's getting a lot of screen time.

The Plan - was an interesting look at Cavil's perspective. It answered a few questions for me like how Boomer couldn't remember setting up charges for the bombs or why she didn't kill Adama. I was also curious as to how the 6 showed up to acuse Baltar of treason out of virtually nowhere and then disappear w/o anyone knowing.

I hope they keep doing a few more movies. There are so many opportunistic spots throughout the series that movies could easily be fit into, like the time on Galactica when it ran from New Caprica(it'd be really easy, given that one doesn't need to reassemble the whole cast).

And I'd love to see even more about the F5, hell, would love to see their whole story.

The new poster looks pretty nice!

This mish-mash parody sums up Starbuck's fate so closely, it's almost a little sad.
