Guardians of the Galaxy The Benicio Del Toro Thread - Who Is He Playing?

I don't see Warlock. I do see Thanos as a possibility, and then just to throw a different name out there: The Beyonder (I highly doubt it though). Right now I'm just gonna sit back and hope there is some sort of footage for Comic Con this summer.

I totally see the resemblance..lol

Del Toro has to be Thanos.

There's a possibility its a cameo as another franchise character, but its doubtful.

Thanos is my guess, too. A character who is going to be in multiple films kind of eliminates a lot of other possibilities. Ronan is a maybe, but he was only rumored by McWeeny. Casting del Toro as Thanos would be pure genius on Marvel's part.

Another point, the people wringing their hands over rumors about trouble on other Marvel prospects affecting the studio's ability to land big name talent can shut it now. With this signing and that of Glenn Close, one even has to question the stories alleging that Marvel won't pay its cast members. The studio is obviously shelling out big bucks for BdT and Close.

See, I don't think its Ronan.

Ronan was my first thought when they said he's a lead, but then they also said its a character intended for multiple films.

While I'd like to think Marvel sees Ronan that way, its more than likely Thanos.

I think its Thanos too.

90% Thanos
8% Rocket
2% anyone else

0% Rocket, if it was him the casting would have been announced just like Star-Lord, Drax and Gamora.

49% Thanos
25% Ronan
25% Collector
1% Anyone else

Gamora wasn't "announced." Didn't it stay rumored until Saldana confirmed it herself? And why wouldn't they "announce" Thanos the same way as Star-Lord, Drax and Rocket? He's potentially the biggest draw of the movie.

I have a theory. Because comic-con is on its way. They will announce the actors playing Rocket and Thanos there. Whether we know the actors already or not.

The cast for this movie is really shaping up to be quite impressive. Del Toro as Thanos would be pretty epic.

None of the actors were "announced" but all 3 of the main leads' roles were revealed the moment we knew which actors were playing them. Pratt, Batista and Saldana were not going to be anyone other than Star-Lord, Drax and Gamora. Rocket will be... let's say "revealed" the same way the main 3 were. There's no reason to hide him.

And why wouldn't they "announce" Thanos the same way as Star-Lord, Drax and Rocket?
Thanos hasn't actually been confirmed to be in the film, that's why. The only characters who were confirmed to be in the movie, by Marvel, were the main 5.

Wow this just keeps getting better and better. Marvel is killing it! Del Toro is a great addition to the MCU! Can't wait for GOTG! By far my most anticipated movie besides episode 7!

He actually crossed my mind for Thanos awhile back. I'd be cool with this.

looks like we have our thanos ladies and gentlemen

What about Korvac? It would make sense that he could be set up in Guardians and then face off against the Avengers. And he was married to Carina, the Collector's daughter, who has been cast

He's obviously playing Khaaaaaaaaaaaaan!

so many possibilities. any kree or skrull, dr. strange, quasar, any nova corps member or nova prime. mephisto, ego, thanos, kang, it could be anyone. an elder of the universe. i have no idea right now.

i am just excited to see this COSMIC movie.

If Del Toro is Thanos, I will eat that **** up with a spoon.

Probably Thanos. I don't think Marvel has given the Guardian of the Universe guys multiple film deals.

Good casting, but I hope the move pays off and they don't end up having to recast one movie later.

Just wanted to point out the Ronan thing didn't come from McWeeny.
