None of the actors were "announced" but all 3 of the main leads' roles were revealed the moment we knew which actors were playing them. Pratt, Batista and Saldana were not going to be anyone other than Star-Lord, Drax and Gamora. Rocket will be... let's say "revealed" the same way the main 3 were. There's no reason to hide him.Gamora wasn't "announced." Didn't it stay rumored until Saldana confirmed it herself?
Thanos hasn't actually been confirmed to be in the film, that's why. The only characters who were confirmed to be in the movie, by Marvel, were the main 5.And why wouldn't they "announce" Thanos the same way as Star-Lord, Drax and Rocket?
Probably Thanos. I don't think Marvel has given the Guardian of the Universe guys multiple film deals.
Just wanted to point out the Ronan thing didn't come from McWeeny.Thanos is my guess, too. A character who is going to be in multiple films kind of eliminates a lot of other possibilities. Ronan is a maybe, but he was only rumored by McWeeny. Casting del Toro as Thanos would be pure genius on Marvel's part.
Another point, the people wringing their hands over rumors about trouble on other Marvel prospects affecting the studio's ability to land big name talent can shut it now. With this signing and that of Glenn Close, one even has to question the stories alleging that Marvel won't pay its cast members. The studio is obviously shelling out big bucks for BdT and Close.
