The Big Bang Theory - Part 2

Now that Sean Astin and Lal Penn are out of the frame on Shamy's Nobel, why don't they just get Leonard to be the experimental physicist who proves it ?

Then Sheldon, Amy and Leonard could share the Nobel..... perfect ending - Chuck Lorre, are there still time for re shoots ?
Otherwise wtf has Leonard really been doing since season 8 besides chilling with Penny ans coming to grips that his mother prefers Sheldon ? He's become a supporting character at best whereas in seasons 1-5 he was clearly a lead.

Raj feels like he has just meandered - if he was going to get married it should have happened ages ago.

Will miss this show, but the way it's gone I'm glad it's over - the Lol moments are too few and far between with tons of filler.

Hope the finale is something special but not expecting much.

I don't think that is where they are going but it is a two episode finale so they might do some kind of time jump/announcement in the last episode.

I bet Penny will get knocked up and motherhood will be forced on her
I'm more willing to bet that Amy will be the one who's pregnant since it was revealed in an episode of Young Sheldon that Sheldon and Amy eventually had children.

Aggravtaing as the show's humor can be at times I will always give them credit for being pretty accurate regarding the culture references.

Love the show but I hate that the one minority on the show can't find love while Sheldon does.

Well it's over.

Yeah. Not quite a limp to the finish line but far from a triumphant gallop.

The writers went with a safe, predictable rehashing of a bunch of old issues in a mildly funny and slightly sickeningly sweet story for the last episode. For a show that put a character into space ( which was hilarious).

Honestly, I expected a lot more - but it's just a symptom of how much momentum the show has lost - even a Nobel prize doesn't feel exciting or particularly entertaining:
Sheldon's a jerk and gets offside with his friends until someone explains it to him, ho hum ....

The one funny bit was
The video call from Stewart, about the kids
and
Sheldon's acceptance speech was a nice touch
.

This feels like a huge missed opportunity after 12 seasons....but I'm hardly surprised.

I loved the finale, I cried so hard at the ending. Pretty much from the moment Sheldon began his speech

I'm gonna miss that show so much

Of all the ways they could end the series, I'm glad they went with the happy ending, similar to Everybody Loves Raymond. I think the one ball they dropped was not giving Raj better resolution to his personal life as he always seemed to be the forgotten man of the entire group and he was still essentially in the same position he's been in for most of the series. While Penny being pregnant sort of goes against her continued insistence of not wanting kids, I do think her not freaking out about it and being happy does fit in with how happy she'd become with Leonard and the whole group. Sheldon and Amy winning the Nobel was basically a given but the reaction of all the characters to the winning was satisfying and totally in-character for everyone involved. Sheldon's speech at the end showed the tremendous amount of growth he and the rest of the cast have done throughout the show's run. The final scene of them still together in the apartment was fitting since there was no way they would break apart. All in all, the ending was a perfect fitting for a this show.

Also, people should really watch the ending they gave Young Sheldon as it tied in nicely to TBBT's series finale, especially in conjunction with Sheldon's acceptance speech. Both of those really brought out the waterworks for me.

It almost felt like a finale for any season, it didn't feel like a series finale.
I stopped watching this show like a year, maybe two years ago, not because I disliked it but it wasn't as funny as it used to be. But spending years (12!) with this characters and actors, it does feel like a "goodbye". I'm not an emotional guy, but I can see why people would feel sad. I teared up a bit with Sheldon's speech.
It was a safe ending for a show that played it way too safe for me. But oh well, it had a good run.

The Finale was...fine.
I mean it was nothing spectacular or so, but also not a car crash.
It was predictable and did what BBT did for a long time now, so its not really bad.

One thing that really dislike was the whole "Penny does get pregnant" thing...its so bland and boring to end a tv show or a characters story with this lame trope.
But it was expected, which is on its own, kind of sad.

The end did get me emotional, the show was on for so long and all...of course people get a bit attached to the characters.
So it leaves a bit hole despite being not as good as it used to be.

It was OK. I haven't been a regular watcher of the show but wanted to see the finale. I definitely got the vibe that they were just tired of the whole thing and wanted to wrap it up with as little fuss as possible.

Lots of people seem to feel that we will never see a scripted show pull the same ratings numbers again. I think it got a 3.0.

Not to bump a really old thread, but I always loved this show and still watch it on HBO Max. Never really looked into how other people viewed it online until recently... but wow, as popular as this show remained while it aired, it had quite a few detractors as well.

The later seasons weren't AS funny, but I still enjoyed them. And I honestly thought the ending was great. I wouldn't mind seeing a reunion of sorts some day.

People who dislike/hate things are more likely to voice their opinion, especially online, than if they like something. I wouldn’t take the online hate to heart too much.

That's fair. Smallville got so much flack back in the day, especially on these forums. Wasn't aware how much it was disliked until around Season 9 or 10 when I was more active on this forum.

Sounds like How I Met Your Father, which was a huge step down from HIMYM. I'll reserve further judgement until trailers or the Pilot, but I'm skeptical for now.

I wonder which former cast member they will have doing a voice over for it then.

Bumping this for anyone who cares. Young Sheldon just did a massive retcon of Sheldon's childhood, albeit in a way that actually works.

Sheldon walked in on his dad having an "affair" with his wife who was cosplaying as a German beer maiden after he and his mother returned from a summer trip in Germany, not realizing it was her in a blonde wig and costume. It's also why he knocks three times on doors, so people have time to put their pants on. He's gone this entire time thinking his father cheated when he never did.

I'm not entirely sure why I continue to watch it but this is the last season so may as well suffer to the end.
