Age of Ultron The Black Widow Thread

I would not be surprised if his mother had that same haircut, or a similar one.lol

I mean the dude has said that his mom was his greatest inspiration for appreciating women as equals in society (hence female characters being featured prominently in his work).

Natash's hair has bangs and thats a signature of her look. Thats never been adapated

Sort of in IM2, but the curls threw the look off. With that said, her best onscreen look was in TWS

Sure, that's her classic/signature look, but she had short hair back when she was with The Mighty Avengers.

I realize that. It was actually a throwback to her 80s makeover

Not a fan of the Avengers wig that BW rocks. It seems like such a silly thing to nitpick, but it's not a great look.

If Whedon is adamant on a short hairdo for Widow, I'd much rather prefer something like this from the 80s.

Scarlett Johansson can pull off a short cut rather well.

Ugh,gawd no. I hate the 80's look with a passion.

I think the short bob look is supposed to appeal to the "realism" crowd. IM 2 had her all dolled up with hair that looked like it took all day to style. She looked just like the comic, but obviously that's too much to ask these days.

As for her TWS look. It's ok. Doesn't give me the "definitive" Widow look. For some reason the hair makes her age 10 years in that film, imo. That's the biggest problem with it to me.

I never dug the short bob cut on her. I usually don't for most women, though there are some exceptions.

And the Avengers Mom-cut doesn't age her to you??
Hmm. I thought she looked hot and young in TWS as opposed to Avengers

and I still say, If their going for "realism" its gotta be a ponytail or a tight bun or something, her avengers 'do could still easily be grabbed in battle; otherwise, just f**** it and go for the comic look

She will always be in a state of change. She's a super-spy. The mom cut may hint at her being older than she looks though. But no, it's not my cup of tea either.

They don't need to go as far as the Iron Man 2 look but this is very, very 'Sigourney in the 80s' and it looks horrid:

Not only is it not very flattering, it's not the easiest cut to look 'right' in wig form. It ends up looking a little off.

This cosplay looks so good. If only she could get a look like this

I don't know why,but she looks younger in the AOU trailer than she did in TWS. Maybe it's the make up person being different in those movies and not the hair.

I thought she looked young too. Especially the bit where she gets the sticks out.

Yeah, the make up in TWS was off a tad. She looks better in AoU.

She has bangs in the flashback - probably supposed to be a teenager in that scene.

A 30 something BW makes the most sense to me. Scarlett can play the role into her early 40's no problem if she stays in reasonable shape.

Is her hair really that big a deal?

I've dug every incarnation of her... um... hair. Except maybe the supercurl look in IM2, which just seemed a little impractical to me.

This Black Widow thread has been taken over by Black Widow's hair. I loved her hair in TWS. I'm not a huge fan of her shorter hair look, but shorter hair is better suited for war.

And now you know what the "Henry Cavil is Superman" thread feels like.lol

Yup. Still better than the cringeworthy Wondie and Gadot threads though. There are more interesting things to talk about than physical appearance.

Well, BW's outfit is pretty plain and boring, always has been
so talking about her hair is no different than discussing Cap or Hawkeye's costume, or whether or not Thor should be "guns out" all the time, or posting pics of new IM armors
its not some sexist thing, its just kinda all there is to discuss that isn't pure rumor about BW, just "tron outfits" and "mom cuts"

I feel the same about most of those other things too. And I really wasn't calling anyone out or anything to that effect. Considering these movies are very visual representations adapted from of a very visual medium, I get that some of those things are more important to some folks and that's perfectly fine. The thing is, I think there's a slight danger in being too attached to a specific version of a character's accoutrements in one's head.

For me, personally, as long as the costume/hair/musculature/whatever isn't distractingly bad/silly/outlandish... and is a faithful representation of how the character ought to "feel", I don't really care too much one way or the other.

I mean, I even thought Cap's Avengers outfit (which gets a lot of flak here) was OK. It's not that I'm blind to the aesthetics of this stuff... I mean, his A:AOU uniform is clearly far superior, but for me, the former didn't take away from the awesomeness that was The Avengers in the slightest.

Well...you are all wrong because this was her best hair...it just never made it to screen sadly

her hair in C2 was just way to flat.

Her boots. It's the type of heel on them.

Eh, I've worn wedges, I wouldn't exactly call them the most practical for fighting. :oldrazz:

However, when doing some googling, I noticed she at least did have them in Winter Soldier too so they're not new like I had thought. I should say they're not a big deal as they won't be noticeable (as my lack of noticing them in Winter Soldier indicates), so I'm not wanting to harp on them too much, I was just making an observation.

It's all about making her appear taller then she is while not having her wear heels. RDJ wears similar shoes in the movies, you just don't see them.

I get that, I just don't see why it needs to be actually part of the costume.

It's the main time she is next to all of those tall men, they don't want her to appear super short. I think they just don't want to take the time to make it appear like she doesn't wear them so they just let them be seen.

I really wish we could get like a 5 part netflix series or something with her, have it be a prequel since we will never get a BW film.

I think this is probably what it is.

Which is a bit unfortunate because I really do think those heels look impractical. Admittedly BW does undercover work where I'm sure she wears a lot of heels and is used to wearing them. But the human foot isn't meant to wear heels all the time. Even Victoria Beckham who wore heels all the time had to have bunion surgery BECAUSE she wore heels all the time.

Minor point in the scheme of things but still a bummer given how good Marvel's costuming department has been.
