Infinity War The Black Widow Thread

I don't think Natasha needs another romance after Bruce. But in case the Russos are unable to leave her alone, Steve is really the best option for her. I know, Sebastian Stan ships Buckynat very hard, but I still don't see how it could work in the MCU. It would be just a reiteration of BruceNat out-of-nowhere awfulness.

I like the work/friends dynamic Cap and Natasha had going, I don't want it to change. Just because there's a woman around doesn't mean she has to get paired off (hope the Russos realize that belatedly)

The Russos didn't create the romance so I'm sure they will do whatever is appropriate/best, as they have done for most things so far.

Thanks for reminding me to have faith... everything is going great so far :)

I'm not so confident in Russos when it comes to romantic relationships. We have yet to see how they'll handle Wanda/Vision. And they screwed up Steve/Sharon by rushing it as hell, just because they thought Steve couldn't be left alone. Maybe they apply the same logic to the others, including Natasha, who knows. Yes, I prefer Steve/Nat platonic friendship and Natasha being left alone, but, again, in case they are obligated to give Nat a romantic partner after Bruce, the only good option I see is Steve.

I don't think it could be in better hands. Rewatch TWS and CW if you're having doubts. A 6 on 6 superhero smackdown should never have done so well. :woot:

How the hell is Cap/Sharon rushed? All they've done so far is talk, flirt and share a quick kiss.

I have a fan theory (or Bland Head Canon) that Steve and Sharon had met a few times between TWS and CW. Sam seemed to recognize Sharon during the funeral (that's how Anthony Mackie played it, in any case) so I'm guessing Sam had met Sharon as well. And they knew Sharon's last name, but didn't think she was related to Peggy, Carter being a common enough last name.

TV Tropes call it "Strangled by the Red String." I think there would have been more between Steve and Sharon, but getting the rights to Spider-Man back resulted in cutting it down.

Even if they met between TWS and CW, it doesn't mean much, since Cap didn't even know where she was working and was still a little pissed she was spying on him.
Anyway, enough with them, it's Black Widow thread. I apologize that I started off topic, all of this stuff about Sharon has already been discussed million of times in her Civil War thread.

Anyway, the point was that the Russos didn't manage to handle it well, so it's not set in stone that whatever they will do with BW's romantic life is gonna be great for sure. I would totally prefer to just leave her alone.

Here's some of my "Black Widow movie idea" with updating.

There are a lot of Russian superheroes and villains in Marvel Comics, obviously more common when the Cold War was going on. So, Yelena Belova tells Natasha the Red Room has expanded into "creating their own superheroes."

"Soviet Super Soldiers" is dated, so let's go with Winter Guard.
This includes Laynia Krylov/Darkstar, Nicolai Krylov/Vanguard and Mikhail Uriokovitch/Ursa Major.

Nat: So, Ursa Major can turn into a giant bear? Isn't that a little on the nose?
Yelena: Do I make fun of your friends who transform into rampaging beasts?

Yelena wants Natasha's help to save these people from the Red Room, since they intends to sell them to an American company. Yelena has some moral qualms, including "selling people is wrong." While she considers herself the "real" Black Widow, and Natasha's successor and superior, Yelena has enough morality left to ask Natasha for help. Also, if she defeats Natasha in a fair fight, she really WILL be the new Black Widow.

It might be too much like "Logan" or "New Mutants," but let's make the Winter Guard into teenagers. It heightens the drama. I was considering revealing that the Laynia and Nicolai are actually sort of Natasha's children. The Red Room has a "waste not, want not" policy, and when Natasha was sterilized during her "Graduation Ceremony," they also harvested her eggs.
That might be a bit much. Natasha can't have children, now she has to save TWO of them.

Sergei Krylov (the Presence in the comics) has plans to sell the Winter Guard to Eric Williams of Williams Munitions. Eric Williams is the Grim Reaper in the comics, but here he's a businessman with an odd sense of humor. And he has an assistant/bodyguard/lover named Nekra Sinclair.

And that kiss was rushed and looked out-of-nowhere, too close to Peggy's funeral.
Steve had been living in the 21st century for 5 years at that point. He's long since moved on from having romantic feelings for 90-year-old Peggy. Also, it's not like they made out at Peggy's funeral.

It was just a spontaneous "I don't know what's going to happen next and I don't know if we'll see each other again, but I like you, you like me and we haven't done this yet" kiss right before a big battle.

The problem is that they made it seem like Steve hadn't moved on from Peggy, that's the point.
But, really, dude, once again, this is BLACK WIDOW thread. If you want to discuss Steve/Sharon, go to their threads.

Looks like they kept Widow's Civil War suit and accessorized it with some extra shoulder pads and a tactical vest.

Straps on straps on straps :funny:

Looks cool. Need to see her in action in it.

Yeah I actually really digg that look. Hopefully, we see it in the movies at some point.

I wonder, if Sebastian hints Buckynat happens after all. He ships it really hard on IG, it will look weird if there is no basis for all his eager shipping in canon.

He just wants to be paired up with Scarlett on screen, he and Mackie both have said as much.

But there's no basis for that relationship at all so far in the MCU and what there is is toxic. He shot her twice, tried to strangle her and she recruited T'Challa for the airport fight knowing he only agreed so he could get revenge and kill Bucky.

This is a great look - the platinum hair, the return of the batons and the very stylish tactical vest.

Yeah, I know and personally I agree, but it's not like the lack of basis has ever stopped Marvel from rushing into a romance.
It's just that Sebastian ships it SO hard on IG that many buckynat fans became convinced he basically confirmed it happening in IW. They don't need any build-up, the line: "You could at least recognize me" is already enough for them.
Idk, maybe the Russos will give up due to the popularity of this pairing.

All I know for sure after every potential romance discussion is that merging two names into one to create a "ship" name needs to stop or I'm going to ShootSelf right now.

What the heck is Widow carrying into battle in that final hero shot? An unlit lightsaber?:huh::huh:
It matches whatever's in her thigh holster in the Vanity Fair shoot, and it's not the same as her batons.

Wouldn't be surprised if they're some type of upgrade Wakandan weapon.
