Infinity War The Black Widow Thread

I think she's gonna be spending a lot of time with Cap over the 2 films.

TY...

Its just all this takes me right out of what I would like to discuss about Natasha's involvement in IW and who do you think we'll see her interact with and who do you think she'll bust someone's ass this time?

Yeah, it has been annoying to come to this thread and see page after page of long-winded bloviation about an unrelated minor character. I've been tempted to ask the mods to come in here and lay down the law about all of the off-topic posts.

I'm curious about where Natasha will be at the start of IW and who she'll be with, if anyone. We can assume that she has been on the run since the end of CW. However, Nat wasn't exactly on the best terms with Team Iron Man and she wasn't in touch with Team Cap for obvious reasons. Natasha is such a skilled spy that she could have chosen any of a number of paths post-disassembly. Hopefully, the writers will give her something significant to do between movies.

One thing I'm not looking forward to is Natasha's reunion with Banner. The only bright spot (for me) is that Hulk probably hooked up with some green alien on Sakaar and fathered kids in the interim. That would signal an awkward end to an incredibly awkward romance.

I imagine Widow is sticking with Cap and the fugitives, in part because they probably need her experience of staying incognito and also for safety if agents are actively hunting for them. For her and Wanda, I feel like the consequences of being caught are especially dire for them given their past crimes. Widow blew her covers in TWS and no longer has the KGB, SHIELD or the Avengers as a safety net.

The Russos have stated that IW will explore themes of fate, destiny and the essence of what it means to be a hero. I can see Widow's arc in IW being about resisting the temptation to disappear and go back into life in the shadows. Sticking with her guns in Civil War didn't exactly make her life any easier.

Funny that you brought up banner ...i am hoping that there won't be much of a reunion between him and Natasha. It was pretty awkward enough as it was in AoU especially the direction just didn't sit well for most viewers. It still felt the Bannat romance came out of nowhere. Hopefully the Russos won't go down that territory that way if it isnt touched upon...then it never really happened.

Maybe once she crosses paths with Cap and Bucky...who knows..maybe she'll grow to work with the winter soldier and come to terms with her previous dealings with him. The two of them aren't so different from one another. They both have done unspeakable things.

I like that.

I apologize for going off-topic previously.

As for Natasha's romantic relationships, I hope they'll drop her and Banner and at this point, tbh, I don't think she needs to embark on another romantic journey. And especially with Bucky after what she did in Civil War. It's obvious she doesn't care about him, so the maximum they could do between them in IW is to make Natasha grow to care about him as an ally and maybe friend. But any romantic vibes between them at this point would be as terrible and unbelievable as it was with Bruce in AoU. IMO.
So, please, leave Natasha's romantic life completely off-screen.

Not saying she should pursue any kind of romantic life at this phase in the MCU. AoU showed just how the scenes between Natasha and Bruce didn't pan out so well. It was unnecessarily awkward to watch. A side plot that should never have happened in an Avengers movie. Save that for a solo film or something down the road. Probably be better off in a form of one or two flashback scenes that way the romance angle doesn't bog down the main plot. If anyone understands Natasha its the Russo bros. Of what ive seen of what they've done with the character, so far its kept my interest in her. Hell i wouldn't mind if they direct a Black Widow film...depending on where she'll end up after IW remains to be seen.

I like that.

The reason I mentioned Natasha and Banner is that Scarlett said in an interview that she had filmed some very emotional scenes with Ruffalo for IW, which she related to working through her own marital breakup. So the two of them are going to at least talk about their relationship, whatever it actually was. At this point, the writers just need to quickly slam that door shut and move on.

What, exactly, did Natasha do to Barnes in CW?

Natasha has no emotional attachment to Barnes because her interactions with him have been violent in the extreme, with all of the damage being done to her by him. He attacked her again and nearly strangled her to death in CW, and that was after shooting her in TWS and another off-screen shooting prior to that. Knowing what a danger he poses to civilians after witnessing him kill a lot of them in TWS, Natasha understandably wanted him taken in or taken out in CW. Being a mind controlled muppet only made Barnes more dangerous to the public, not less.

I do agree that Natasha shouldn't ever be in a relationship with Barnes. That was a bull**** retcon in the comics that should never have happened in the first place. Natasha had an interesting romantic history that went back five decades which was diminished or erased for the thing with Barnes to be made canon. The MCU hasn't made the mistake of pairing them off, for which I am grateful. Natasha deserves better.

Oh i didnt know that...so its not a thing anymore which means theres no point incorporating that aspect in the mcu. Makes sense but i would like to see her get along with Bucky in a form of an ally. Heck...if she can trust Steve and he trusts Bucky...she can. That depends on if she has any scenes with him besides Cap.

Natasha asked Black Panther to join their team, even though she perfectly knew TChalla was gonna kill Bucky, not capture him. And TChalla almost did it in the airport, Wanda stopped him. I don't blame BW for not caring about Bucky's well-being very much, I understand her reasoning, but if she cares about Steve, she should at least care for Bucky's life for the sake of Steve's emotional well-being. Did she want another tradegy in Steve's life or what?

BuckyNat is still a very popular comic-book pairing, though. This is why I'm afraid they might try to retcon it for the MCU as well. Many comics readers already claim that Natasha's line "You could at least recognize me" means they have shared history. Which doesn't make any sense for me seeing how little Nat cares about him in CW. But Buckynat's fans don't want to use their logic, obviously, and would be very happy to see this pairing in IW.

I was thinking about it during CW. Not that she should have trusted Bucky, but at least don't go against Steve because of him, woman!
I think Agent13's and BW's roles should have been swapped. It makes very little sense that Natasha doesn't want to help him in his attempts to save Bucky, Natasha, who has known Steve for a long time, trusts him with her life, knows how much Bucky means to him, knows that Bucky was brainwashed, so he's not responsible for his actions. And on the other hand we have Sharon Carter, who barely knows Steve personally, and already from the start is ready to risk her entire career to help him, even though Bucky hurt her as well and even killed many of her co-workers. Doesn't make sense. It should have been Natasha from the start. Steve is her close friend.

A lot in CW doesn't make sense!

BuckyNat stans don't care if there is a hole storyline between Bucky and Natasha on the MCU. They just want to accomplish their fantasy/fetish of seeing their favorite characters together. It doesn't matter if it will be well written or not.

Nat and Bucky aren't going to become a thing, she still needs to sort things out with hulk, they will not put her with another guy in the same movie. Marvel don't want negativity around Natasha.

I thought they weren't going to touch base on the two as if their romance never happened given how it was critized.

And i know Nat and Bucky will not happen. I still feel Steve is the kind of guy she should go after...lol.

She is in Atlanta:

Looking in shape! Hope she gets to kick all kinds of butt and stay the heck away from awkward time-wasting relationships in IW.

She's had short hair for a while now. They cut it really short for the wig she had to wear in Ghost in the Shell, and I don't think she's let it grow back to its full length since.

I like that we'll see her blonde in this. Nice bit of visual variety like Steve's beard and reflecting the different situation the heroes are in now.

I don't expect it to change over the course of the film, assuming the events of the film are spread across a short time period.

Is she not going to have the red hair at all?

Pretty sure she will. It's not like the photos are from her filming and, as already iterated, are most likely pre-hair and make-up. I doubt they're gonna suddenly do away with Nat's red hair. Wouldn't make sense to.

She's in hiding. It makes sense she'd changer her hair colour.
