i agree. first its april and second they wrotte this after reading the cinemacon reviews where peopel liked the footage.

i think we can all agree that TDKR will make the budget back and a profit in the first 2 weeks. the question is only how much money and if records will be broken. and i think we need june for this.

Considering the popularity of Christopher Nolan and his Batflicks, it's extremely possible for several records to be broken in the process.

I don't see this film making less than 900 million.

Yep, way too early. It's April and the final trailer has yet to even be released.

Of course The Avengers is tracking bigger numbers right now. The film is at it's highest peak for the marketing and hype. TDKR, however, isn't in it's second phase of the marketing. It's still riding the wave from December.

Correct on all counts. If the two movies came out in back to back weeks, the comparison might be relevant. But since they're 2.5 months apart, it is very much an apples and oranges comparison. One has its $100m marketing campaign in full swing while the other has its $100m marketing campaign in a dormant period.

Yeah... $850 million overseas is not happening.

Will it be less than the 533 million inception grossed? or the similar figure that spider-man 3 did? I think not.

Realistically mid 600's-to the 700's is feasible.

Here is 2011 forecast from the same author, along with actual foreign numbers:

Yeah, pretty terrible predictions for the most part. :lmao:

Inception got 503mil overseas?! Jeez.....

TDKR has such high expectations that anything less than $500m Domestic will be SEEN as a disappointment.

TDKR will top out at around $450 mil domestic and $650 mil WW.

I'm sorry what? You think it will only make $200MM outside the US? What world are you living in :whatever:

Inception made over double that overseas, and TDK made nearly double that as well.

The Foreign market (especially China with a huge increase of IMAX screens there) has grown in the intervening period as well.

No way this will make less than $400MM outside the US, and my bet is $600MM.

Total gross of $1Bn-1.1Bn i'm predicting

Are we sure TDKR will be released in China after the Bale's incident there?

Those BoxOfficeMojo forecasts are terrible and just silly. Particularly Dark Knight Rises, Avengers and Amazing Spider-Man

Well maybe if you could read correctly, it says $450 mil domestic (which is here in the U.S) and $650 mil WW(that means the rest of the world) add those totals and you get alittle over 1 billion. Do you wanna a calculator? Maybe before you jump on someone in the future actually read there statement.

I think the confusion is that WW usually means the overall total, since America is...part of the world.

I believe "foreign" is the word you were looking for.

yeah since I clearly meant the sequel to the highest grossing comicbook movie of all time would tank in the rest of world. I advise the other guy to read between the lines like the other 2 posters did who knew what I was saying.

personally I think TDKR will be about 1.3 or 1.4 Billion WW...if and when the media blitz starts for the movie we will see a bigger indicator of how big they are going with the marketing. I would assume it will be on par with Avengers marketing so far, and it will be pretty much everywhere you look
