I swear to god if theres not even a single promo image or two, or even a damn poster during April I think I'll just knock this film out of the way and fuel all my excitement into Prometheus.

My favorites inventory has been upgraded. It can now hold slots for two movies. Had to drive my arrows through some squirrel to exp up.

Hunger Games blew up in the last month or two, which is proof that WB isn't doing anything wrong in their marketing for TDKR right now. It's a waste of money to cram a marketing campaign down the public's throat 4 months in advance.

This this this and this.

I don't know about that. General audience tracking for TAS is solid as hell. It's Spider-Man fans who are the most vocal about their displeasure. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's seen random people really excited from watching the trailer.

Where have you found tracking info for TAS?

Basically everyone I even kinda sorta know went to see Hunger Games. In this case, it was really teenagers that propelled it to such heights.

Are you a teenager yourself?? If so, just because you see all your peers watching the Hunger Games doesn't mean its solely propelled by teenagers.

I'm not a teenager, I just graduated from college yet almost all of my friends have also seen the Hunger Games. And most of my friends are not teenagers.

Then again, teenagers are a big market force to cater to.

I am 33 year old male who saw Hunger Gasmes andf loved it . This is why its going to be bigger than Twilight and I experct a much smaller drop off as it has far more crossover appeal ,, .

TDKR will get heavy promotion in June . There is no point in spending it now .....

^Haha, that's not what a lot of people think in the TDKR General/News thread. Half are complaining about the lack of news and criticizing WB marketing for failing at their jobs, while the other half console them and say TDKR is 4 months away.

Shhh! Don't let WB know this! They must be led to believe that a blockbuster won't be successful unless it's continuously marketed months in advance!

Ugh, I didn't say solely!

Hunger Games is becoming a billion dollar merchandising brand. What group do you think that is because of? Hunger Games does have cross over appeal but they are attempting to cater to one group in particular and let me give you a hint: the kind that go around buying all the "Team Peeta" merchandise.

I don't think it's incorrect to say TDKR will have a more diverse audience.

Hunger games definitely has good crossover appeal, a lot of older people and dudes are watching it simply because. It's a good film with a good premise. end of, that's all you need.

I don't think TKDR will do too well in the tween girl demo, but they have every single male from little boys to older males who like a bit of "film rather than movie" so that is a plus. I don't think TDKR can do too much to cater to the tween female....unless they do a #teambatsy #teambane for Mirandas love triangle. :funny: ahaha

Reason why Hunger Games works and was so appealing is that the story is enjoyable no matter what age range you fall under. I was surprised at how diverse the audience was when I went to see it, families, teenagers, adults, 20-somethings, there's something for everyone to enjoy, and it's superbly made. It's not a teens movie, it's just a movie that happens to have teens in it. Dark Knight Rises won't have quite the same appeal, but it's still going to have a broader appeal than most superhero films because like Hunger Games the stories are trying to be about real people.

I'll just add that I believe success of THG is actually a good thing for Rises because if you look at both film they're not too dissimilar in their approaches. They're are taking rather fantastical concepts, grounding them and making the stories about the characters the focus of the film. We're not really getting a Batman film, we're getting a film that just happens to have Batman in it.

How can you say it won't have the same appeal when TDK made more opening weekend? 4 years ago, no less. If anything, I'd think the appeal of TDKR would be bigger. Don't get me wrong, I liked Hunger Games, but I feel a lot of it is about being getting caught up in the 'hype' so to speak. TDKR will have mammoth legs and huge appeal to every group except tween girls.

Anyway internationally, Avengers will probably outgross TDKR but TDKR will sweep the floor in North America.

Well that's exactly what I mean by not having the same appeal.

Ah, okay. Appealing to every possible group is not a necessity though when one group can far outweigh another. Think of Twilight. It's catered totally towards females but their viewership is so strong they alone can pull in a $150M opening weekend:o

More like the Miranda/Bruce/Selina love triangle. :funny: LOL I actually made a post about that yesterday about how it won't surprise me at all if WB inflates the Miranda/Bruce/Selina love triangle in some of their marketing to try to lure the Twilight crowd that eat those things up. *cringes*

I'm predicting a 175mil opening weekend and a 460mil close for now. I think that it will be more frontloaded than the first two because of the demand.

And I don't see a connection between Batman and The Hunger Games so it won't factor into my prediction at all.

When TDK came out plenty of teen/tween girls dug TDK. You have no idea how many Joker quotes I saw as facebook statuses for these girls.

Teens/tweens (both sexes) make up a large part of the moviegoing public.

ONTD who was all about TDK back in 2008 is about 95% female.

Most of them are hating on TDKR now though because that's the "cool thing" there now.

Most of them were there in 2008 for the hot guys - Heathus Christ, Senor Bale, and Sexhart.

OMG those were the days. :lmao: The TDK Party Posts with the randomest gifs ever...I even memorialized them on my page:

ONTD was starting to be a time-waster though, so I haven't gone there in a while. :oldrazz:

Yes! Their TDK party posts were absolutely hilarious. I always end up dying from laughing from all the GIFs specially the Senor Bale and Heathus Christ ones. And of course that epic TDK in one minute GIF. OMG. :lmao:

You're not missing much now. A TDKR thread there now goes something like this:

60% Anne is awful/Michelle foreverrrr
10% TDKR will suck because the Joker is not there/Bane is so bland!
20% Nolan ruined Batman/I hate Bale's Batman voice/Where is Robin? I want Batgirl
10% Bale/Hardy/Joe is so hot and he can get ittttt

The Dark Knight Rises: The Dark Knight is the second-highest grossing comic book adaptation ever overseas with $469 million—still, compared to its domestic total of $533 million, that seems like an unremarkable number. In the four years since that movie was released, though, the international marketplace has expanded significantly, and The Dark Knight seems to be highly regarded (two years later, Christopher Nolan's Inception earned $533 million overseas). The promise that this is the end of Nolan's Batman story should also help, and the movie has a very good chance of becoming one of the highest-grossing movies ever on an overseas basis.

(Foreign) Forecast: $850 million
