The Boys Description
The series is set in a contemporary world very much similar to the real one, with one notable exception: a number of people have some form of superpower. The series follows a superpowered CIA squad, known informally as "The Boys", whose job it is to keep watch on superheroes and, if necessary, intimidate or kill them.

The Boys today is a Dinamyte Comic,is not DC anymore. But still as a bad-ass comic!

It sickens me this thread ain't more popular...

Hopefully Adam McKay will be the first person to fully nail Garth Ennis' humor on him.

It seems like this news just kind of slipped under the radar, but late last month, Simon Pegg was asked about his involvement with THE BOYS film.

Simon Pegg said:
I don't know. I was very flattered to be in The Boys, without realising I was! Darick Robertson drew me as Wee Hughie, and I later found out about it. And DC had a panic attack, and thought I was going to sue them for image rights. Which, of course, I wasn't. I'm in a comic! Cool!

I don't know. I know Adam McKay's attached to it. I personally would be very happy to disagree with me, but I may be a bit old for Wee Hughie now. But it's a great story and it would be lovely to be part of it, but it's all up in the air. I'm in it, because I'm in the comic. But the movie? It's about the character. If they're happy for me to play it, I'll definitely consider it!
Den of Geek - Simon Pegg interview: The Boys

This relates of course to McKay saying that he wants Pegg as Hughie since even before he was officially on THE BOYS. Needless to say, it's looking good for Pegg as Hughie.

yea, i figured Pegg was too old for Wee Hughie as well. But they should still get him anyway. I was also thinking Ray Stephenson for Butcher and Terry Crewes for Mother's Milk.

Simon Pegg pretty much reiterating what he said earlier:
Christopher Bell @ The Playlist said:
Another thing we’d like to see from Pegg is his presence in the gestating adaptation of “The Boys” by Adam McKay, playing Wee Hughie which was basically based off of him in the first place. Unfortunately, Simon doesn’t think he’s wee enough. “I don’t know if I’m too old for Wee Hughie, you know, I’m a 41 year old man, Wee Hughie is like a young guy,” to which Nick quickly added “Who else is McKay going to go to? You could just play Hughie.” Laughter erupted, but Pegg stuck to his guns. “I think Darick and Garth imagined Wee Hughie as Tim from ‘Spaced,’ not Simon Pegg, 41 years old. But we’ll see.”
SXSW Exclusive: Nick Frost & Simon Pegg Say ‘Paul’ Sequels Are Definitely A Possibility

Y'know, I think they're barking up the wrong tree trying to get The Boys turned into a film. It'd be much better suited as a tv show on HBO or Showtime. If it were a movie, they'd have to cut out so much good stuff PLUS ensemble movies never have the time to flesh out all the characters so it'd almost certainly turn into 'Billy and Hughie VS. The Homelander', with the rest of the team (as well as The Seven) basically relegated to background character status...considering how much other good stuff is goin' on in the book, that'd be a massive shame.

Honestly, Hughie doesn't look to be a really young guy. He's just short. I assumed that's why they called him Wee Hughie to begin with. Also, Pegg can totally pass for at least 30 and I think that's close enough.
