The Catwoman/Selina Kyle Casting Thread - Part 1

Being in a minority doesn't trouble me, as I am not a collectivist. The point I was seeking to make is that fans of the "Selina" played by Hathaway are unlikely to feel comfortable with the more charismatic, dynamic and feminine interpretation that Arterton would be likely to give.

Hathaway wasn't feminine or charismatic? I feel like folks dislike Hathaway as Catwoman simply because they dislike Anne Hathaway in real life. But she absolutely nailed the charm and slinky playfulness of the comic book Selina, and having her wardrobe channel Audrey Hepburn was a stroke of brilliance by Hemmings and/or Nolan.

I like Arterton, and she is naturally stunning. I also think she could make a good Catwoman, certainly in the DCEU too when Affleck, Cavill, and Gadot are anchoring with three rather bland and lifeless performances. But I have never seen her give a performance as good as what Hathaway did in Rachel Getting Married or Les Miserables. But yes, Hathaway's a grown-up theater kid, so some fans don't like seeing her "play" sexy femme fatale.

Morena Baccarin I would have said her but isn't she in the MCU? I mean she was in Deadpool as Wade/Deadpool's love interest Vanessa wasn't she not? Then could they really work her into the DCEU as Selina Kyle/Catwoman to Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne/Batman

Not to mention Arterton and Affleck worked together in the past on a film so to reunite them in the Batman universe they would actually have chemistry if they do cast her as Catwoman

Pfeiffer's Catwoman is immortal only in the sense that the performance will endure through time. Truly timeless.

Arterton is a brilliant actress. Byzantium, The Girl with All the Gifts, Tess of the D'Urbervilles, The Disappearance of Alice Creed, Song for Marion, etc.

Clarke is a very beautiful woman, but I am not convinced she is a very good actress even though I enjoy her as Daenerys. She also is tiny, which next to Ben Affleck might make for a strange contrast when she is supposed to be his physical peer.

Yeah, the size thing alone would look quite awkward, although it worked to a degree in Hush. I think Clarke's a good actress though, especially in a role where she can use her comic timing. Such a shame about the whole Terminator thing. She was painfully miscast as Sarah Connor, yet still the least of the film's problems.

Arteton is a very good choice, period. However, she seems pretty burnt out on Hollywood after getting cast in three bad blockbusters in a row (Clash of the Titans, Prince of Persia, and Hansel & Gretel). The first two were in thankless girlfriend roles as well. Let us just say I have trouble imagining Gotham Sirens being something to lure her back.

Seriously though, she and her tendency to overact annoy the hell out of me. Also, I never heard her do an American accent.
