The Catwoman/Selina Kyle Casting Thread - Part 1

I suppose the best we can hope for is Ben being assigned executive producer on GCS (which is exactly what transpired with JL). This would allow him to push for actors of his own choosing even if it's against the director’s wishes.

Affleck doesn't strike me as someone who would do this, though... he seems like a guy who wouldn't want to meddle in director's work.

I kept my excitement in check about the Headey tweet. My gut tells me Bennet's a done deal. We'll see what happens.

If they can somehow convince me that Bennett's Selina is in her mid-thirties, **** it, I'll be willing to give it a chance. There still remains a matter of why not simply cast an older actress in the first place, but if she can pull it off, fine. However, if their intention is to make Selina be of Bennett's real age, then I will be rather pissed off.

I used to think the same, but I recently got to see a little more of his process in Project Greenlight. Long story short, some fledgling young director was adamant about shooting on film (as opposed to digital); his main obstacle was a woman in charge of financing. Anyway, the kid basically went over her head and complained to Affleck. Affleck, a proponent of [shooting on] film himself, subsequently gave him the okay. In short, this did not sit well with the aforementioned production manager at all. lol

That said, this is an entirely different situation; and I acknowledge it's a bit of a stretch.

Headey was merely replying to a fan, who inquired as to why she hadn't been cast in the role yet. In response [to paraphrase], Headey basically said, "Why the bleep haven't I?" That's all it was. lol

Ben bowed out, per his own words, partly because of the directorial duties being too much for him. He'd look like an absolute blowhard if he tries to impose too much power over the shoulders of the replacement to his vacated spot.

No, this will be a direct collaboration at best. His constant praise for Zack during Comic Con felt genuine to me, in that he was humbled by the gargantuan task in filming a superhero blockbuster. He'll fall back when those cameras are on. Whatever input he has will purely be on the character and script, I'm sure.

He still is suspose to be producer on this film so he will have some input.it sounded like terro rewrote the script he and Johns wrote though they may get some writing credit on the film.

You know, that's a damn good point. I guess we'll have to put our faith in Ayer again. :sigh:

Heh, that was nice of him. But you're right, it might turn one way or another. Wouldn't really place any bets.

Edit: Jekecy does make a damn good point.

I could see Sienna Miller being up for one of these roles.

I would not have one complaint about Beckinsale as Selina...

She's hot, but it's still a no from me. I might take it over a young, average actress though. I'm not calling the new girl a bad actress by the way.

I don't think Catwoman is in this. I really do think Sienna Miller was telling the truth when she said Affleck specifically told her Selina Kyle was not in the script. (That could change, since everything is currently in flux at this point, but I'm just not expecting to see her in this.)

No one thinks that Catwoman is in the new Batman movie, but she's more than guaranteed in the new Gotham Sirens movie and then subsequently in other Batman/ DCEU films

I'm hoping they cast a young looking 30-35 y/o, so if Catwoman shows up in the current timeline of GCS, the actress can play the role at her own age and can be portrayed as 5-10 years younger than this Batman.

If Matt Reeves goes for the prequels, say around 10 years before BvS, then this actress could play a 20-25 y/o Selina, and does not require significant make up.

And I'm still in team Eva :woot:

and team Jake

With Matt Reeves directing I can have hope to see Keri Russell as Catwoman or another role.

The ones who don't believe she can play the character well propably have never watched The Americans.

But Reeves is probably not casting her. Ayer probably is.

I would say his casting was one of his strengths. SS had its problems, but the cast was solid. Who did he really miscast? I can't really think of anyone. It was also the most diverse comic book cast (maybe ever). So his casting choices aren't really something to worry too much about.

^I don't know if casting is the problem there so much as the directing though. I don't think there's an actress alive that could have pulled off the Enchantress dance. And although Leto's Joker was all over the place, some moments from him were great imo, and I think a better director could have gotten the right performance from every scene. I'd say the same about Eisenberg as Lex.

I wouldn't hate that.
