The Dark Knight The Christian Bale/Bruce Wayne thread

I'm not gonna mention any naaaaames, but I think throwing phones at people is worse than ranting at them. :o

This thread will reach 3000 pages with people giving excuses for bale because hey, "he is mah favouritez actor and played teh batmanzors" and the rest will try to explain how any employee would have gotten fired for a behaviour like that. But bale is a hollywood diva now...

So anyway, i have a request to make. Can someone who has some video skills make a video with Maroni's interrogation but with Bale's audio? That would be awesome! Imagine Batbale breaking maroni's legs and telling him that he will trash his lights, etc. Hahahaha!

Just make sure you PM it around and not post it here because the mods are against this kind of language.

When it comes to favorite actors, Bale wouldn't even be on my top ten list. Hell, I'm not even sure if he'd be in the top 20. I'm defending him because, unlike some people, I'm not going to pretend that I've never acted inappropriately due to being angry. I definitely have. And I've never met a person that hasn't at some point in their life. Still, I guess some people get a kick out of acting holier-than-thou.

agreed :woot:

This was from June, so it's shortly before the Dark Knight premiere & alleged incident with his mom & sister. Not to excuse the guy (a tantrum is a tantrum), but he was probably stressed the frak out. I saw him at a talk with Nolan the week of the premiere and he looked really tired.

My guess is that stuff probably happens plenty on sets, just to a lesser degree.
(What an awesome business!)

And the remix is pretty great.
well from the movie sets i was lucky enough to witness the language can most oftenly described as crude/ crass. it would easily offend most folks but to them its normal. ah well. i guess thats why they need publicists. :hehe:

I'm defending him because it's very well known how seriously he takes his job. The man lost a life-threatening 68 lbs for his role in The Machinist for Pete's sake, and if someone fooled around on THAT set, I'd completely excuse him for losing his cool. Of course, he probably didn't have enough energy at that time, but anyway. :funny:

If he's serious enough about his job to lose 68 lbs, it wouldn't surprise me if he expects everyone around him to take it that seriously as well. That's probably why he and Nolan work so well together. :cwink:

I don't think Michael Caine would have ever given him a reason to act like that. Still, none of us were there that day, so it's hard to say if Bale was justified in being angry with him. No matter what the case, I think people here are overreacting to Bale's... overreacting. :oldrazz: What he did was inappropriate, yes, but was it unusual? No. People lose their temper all the time. It happens. Everyone here has done or said something embarrassing while angry that they wish they could take back. Bale was just unlucky enough to do it while a tape was rolling.

That's how it works. Politicians, actors, musicians, athletes, celebs. Western culture is obsessed with these figures. Its normal that this is spreading all across the web and everyone's passing judgment and either excusing Bale's behavior b/c he's method acty having a bad day or claiming he was out of line. Please don't sanctimoniously make the argument that people are blowing this out of proportion.

well i'm not sure if "defending" would be what i'm doing on his behalf, but i sure am just airing his side by giving his background and work ethic to explain who he is as a person, that he isnt a pr*ck the way that soundbyte makes him out to be.

thats part of the reason why i kinda wished the one that leaked was the video. perspectives of a situation can be vastly different between just a soundbyte and video with sound.

DP: What's the difference between you and us?

Bale: I'M NOT WEARING HOCKEY PADS!!!!!!

DP: ......wut.

I don't think it's sanctimonious to point out that the man is doing something we've all been guilty of at some point. Sure, not everyone is guilty of having a reaction that extreme when angry, but like I've said before, we've all acted inappropriately at some point while angry. No, I think being sanctimonious would be to say things like there's "no excuse" for how he behaved, he's a diva, etc. I seriously doubt the people saying these things would have wanted the same level of scrutiny and judgment applied to them at times in their life when they lost their cool.

Something like this is not a rare occurance. As seriously as Bale takes his work, I'm surprised we haven't heard of more of these incidents. And wind the clocks back two years, no one would care about this cause nobody would really care about Bale. This is only news because Bale is one of the biggest stars in the world right now. I could care less about this story, and it doesn't change my opinion of him at all....

This is becoming the latest internet fad real quick. :p

Does anyone else worry that this will affect the casual viewer's necessary sympathy for batman in the next film? I mean, the whole Mum/sister incident was ambiguous enough to slide, but this certainly isn't.

I'd guess not. Many people forgive & forget. Many more just forget.

seriously, did you see the mash up dance song on youtube!! best thing ever!!

Look, i work in tv mostly now/ independant film before that and ive never seen an outburst like that...

Think about it: who is the only person on the set who will not be replaced ? Bale. the WB would sooner fire that pu$$y McG or that poor DP before bale. Bale was talking about being unprofessional? who the hell does he think he is talking to someone like that for like 4 minutes!!...oh that was professional christian sheeesh...

The thing about it guys, I bet you money that the DP wasnt even in the shot, just in bales "eye line" tinkering with the lights. they were probably shooting a close up or a two shot of Bale and bryce and the DP probably wasnt even close to being on camera. I mean Mcg didnt even "see it"...

Bale im sure was over worked and stressed mentally and physically but dude, take a friggin nap and come back to the business you love.

I would have LOVED, LOVED to see him pull this ***** with cameron, spielberg, or aronofsky. Shoot, Darren even told Rourke "look dont you dare disrespect me in front of my crew, dont even think about it"

Now i dont think Bale is getting, how we say, Russel Crowe syndrome but it is evedent that he needs a nap.

OKay im done for now :)

NOT in the least. First of all B3 wont be out for another 3 years this will be a relick of the past. I still sympathize with Maximus when i watch Gladiator despite Crowe's various meltdowns and explosions. These are human beings not fictional characters, they're susceptible to all the same vices even though we see them as the hero's we love.

I doubt he would have been able to get into that situation under the likes of them in the first place though, as a good director runs a tight ship. McG obviously doesn't This reflects almost as badly on him as it does Bale.

I can see the fact how he needs to be in his own scene dealing with that and I can see how when someone steps into the camera when you're in the middle of working, and I think he had a bad day, but that was just unproffessional. I would be mad at the guy, but no go on and on about it saying I'm gonna kicks his ass and curse to death. It was unproffessional. But he just went on about it. People do have days like that and probably do have outbursts but not for three straight minutes and goes ballistic on someone. You could just do the scene again.

No, he's the goddamn Batman.

Come on you know someone was going to say it sooner or later.

Who knows? McG could've said to reshot the scene, but instead Bale goes off, and instead of agreeing with his hysterical rant, he just acted like he didn't see it, so the scene could get done quicker.

But you're right, he could have been a mistake on his part to, but who knows. All I know, is that Bale went overboard, whichever way you look at it.

I guess you could say:

:brucebat: + :huh:= :bh:

:hehe:

agree 100%.

I didnt like McG before, this just puts me over the edge...

One of the director's jobs to make sure things run smooth.

McG should have stepped between the two warring factions and said "everybody shut the eff up!" especially after the two minute mark hahaha...

I mean what the hell was he thinking, that it was just going to end nicely and not affect his movie or his stars rep? Bale no doubt in my mind sounded like he ws going to hit Mr. DP if the right button was pushed.

"YOU ARE TRASHING MY SCENE!!!"

Oh, that Bale's rant had more memorable quotes than my sig can afford. :woot:

No, he's the goddamn Batman.

That "goddam Batman" thing doesn't worth a penny now. :joker:
