The classic car appreciation thread

I have a '92 Camaro, the last year they did the 82-92 body...And 25th Anniversary... Not really a classic I know, but it feels old school lol

Cameros up until about 94 ish are classic IMO. After that they became "sleek" and sporty and not a muscle car.

I really thought there would be more people interested in classic cars. The japanese market really has taken over.

My father in law just bought a 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback to restore.

1969 Corvette Stingray with L88 hoodscoop and shiny black paint plenty of chrome  Wish I had a decent pic. Here's a pic of a 68 that's still pretty dang sweet

My dad had a '65. It was Candy Apple Red with the white side panels, an 8-ball stick shift handle and a few other specific mods done to it. Then I was born and he had to sell it and get a family car. I don't think he ever forgave me for that. :wow: He was at the big car museum in Reno, NV about ten years ago and they had one just like it. He got to looking at it closer and...sure enough....it was his old car. It was as mint as the day he bought it. He said the urge to jump in it and drive it out of there in a blaze of squealing tires was almost overwhelming.

Coincidentally, Man-Thing, my dad also had one of those Buick Regal Grand National's in the 80's. I don't remember what year it was, but holy CRAP was that thing fast. It was white with the turbo package and digital instrumentation (fancy stuff for that era) and even when it was up well over 100 mph it rode smooth as silk.

My friend had a regal t-type (with the same turbo charged v-6). It could run in the mid nines with less than 8,000 $ in the motor.

BTW, I just bought a GM LS-1 and a t-56 six speed that will be going into my 96 S-10 over the winter.

I thought about getting the AWD from a chevy astro van, and making it AWD, but I like to pinstripe asphault (plus it would be a lot more work and $$$).

BTW, all grand nationals were black (everything on the exterior). If you dad's was white, it had to be a regal T-type (which are just as fast, but just not black.)

In 1987 Buick came out with the Grand National GTX, which for that year was the fastest car GM produced.

The corvette people's heads almost exploded.

Ahhhh...I didn't realize that. So the black model was sort of their attempt at a special edition, then?
