As many know (and don't care), I'm 'dibs-ing' Spawn. Also, character limits? One or two?

I'm curious about the character limit too. I'm going to be applying for Big-Head no matter what, but if a second character is allowed, I think that I've got someone pretty nifty in mind. :ninja:

In the event that Watchmen characters are intergrated into this universe, I'm going to go ahead and throw down a dibs on Rorschach.

It may be low of me to do so... infact, I'm pretty sure it is. But dammit, it's Rorschach. :csad:
fine im calling dibs on Sylar and Nite Owl! Sense a certain someone ignored my calling dibs on Rorshach over in the discussion last night........

Nah I kid, you'll own Rorshach.

I'm going to be making it one character, but only for the first week that the game is up. After that, I'll extend it to two.

Out of curiosity..

I haven't checked to see if this rule is still upheld in the other RPGs, but I do remember that one of the first rules of every RPG around was that you couldn't play the overtly powerful characters. No Gods and stuff like that. Where does that leave Dr. Manhattan? Sandman?

In my hands. :o

But, I don't know much about Sandman and all, but as long as the RPGers who play these characters who could be considered "god-like" aren't doing cheap things with their powers, it shouldn't be a problem.

We've had the greek gods played in other RPGs. Norse gods too. I don't think the rule should keep people from playing the characters, as long as they will be faithful to the character and the game.

They'll be allowed for play, but by responsible players. The rule is essentially so that no one comes in and does idiotic stuff like erase all existence and declare themselves ruler of mankind. They have to play the characters like they would any other character. They're just not as easy to, er... kill.

Heroes alone has four immortal characters.

It'll be....interesting...to see how Dr. Manhattan will be played. I mean, his very core is that the's the most powerful being on earth. He's become so powerful, so above everyone else, that he's risen above human attachments and emotions. In this universe, he'd be one of a crowd of people with that kind of power. Goes back to what I was saying about allowing them would critically lessen their significance and take away what makes them special.

Sorry, had to get that last one out.

Plus, wouldn't writing him be supremely difficult? Part of the gravitas of Dr. Manhattan's character is that he has seen the events of the entire Watchmen story. As such, wouldn't he have to see every part of every arc in every season of the game? If there's someone bold, or brash, enough to do it, I wish them the best of luck, but it's a somewhat daunting task.

It all boils down to this, fundamentally: It's an RPG. A game. Not an official publication or the end of the world. This has absolutely no significance on the actual Watchmen publication. It's simply an alternate timeline, which... less face it... plenty of those have been made for characters bigger than Watchmen's, such as Superman, Spider-Man, Batman, ect. and they've often paled in comparison to the actual thing. But the truth is, they're just fun exercises that we read anyway, because it entertains us. Sure, they don't bring the same level of entertainment as their original counterparts, nor should they try. It's simply a matter of experimentation.

Maybe. He could very well do that. But that doesn't mean he has to mention what happens to anyone, even himself. Certainly, he didn't tell anyone in the Watchmen universe about [BLACKOUT]Veidt's end-of-the-world project, nor that he was the killer of Edward Blake[/BLACKOUT]. He didn't even really allude to it in any inner-monologue. He simply let it all unfold onto itself, as it was supposed to happen.

Amen.

People are taking this too seriously. So what if they characters aren't living up to the way Alan Moore wrote them? They are in no way damaged for all eternity. It's a game. The more characters restricted, the less openings for people to get interested and join. The less interest, the less time this game survives. The Watchmen characters are insanely popular. With the new movie coming up, they will generate tons of interest. It would be incredibly stupid to block them off from probably the one RPG that they could be logically played in.

My only wish is that Alan Moore finds this RPG when the Watchman characters are played.

"Wow, they suck....**** it, I'm so nonconformist. I'm gonna go smoke a cigarette."

Screw him and his ungroomed beard of pure hatred and vengeance! :cmad:

well I just went through this whole thread having my hopes and dreams of Heroes characters rise and fall until i got to the end of that little war.

dibs on Niki/Jessica.

It's a flexible continuity, so I'm sure she could be alive if you wanted.
