dr. Manhattan...dibs.
fine im calling dibs on Sylar and Nite Owl! Sense a certain someone ignored my calling dibs on Rorshach over in the discussion last night........In the event that Watchmen characters are intergrated into this universe, I'm going to go ahead and throw down a dibs on Rorschach.
It may be low of me to do so... infact, I'm pretty sure it is. But dammit, it's Rorschach.![]()
I'm curious about the character limit too. I'm going to be applying for Big-Head no matter what, but if a second character is allowed, I think that I've got someone pretty nifty in mind.![]()
Out of curiosity..
I haven't checked to see if this rule is still upheld in the other RPGs, but I do remember that one of the first rules of every RPG around was that you couldn't play the overtly powerful characters. No Gods and stuff like that. Where does that leave Dr. Manhattan? Sandman?
Heroes alone has four immortal characters. They'll be allowed for play, but by responsible players. The rule is essentially so that no one comes in and does idiotic stuff like erase all existence and declare themselves ruler of mankind. They have to play the characters like they would any other character. They're just not as easy to, er... kill.
Part of the gravitas of Dr. Manhattan's character is that he has seen the events of the entire Watchmen story. As such, wouldn't he have to see every part of every arc in every season of the game?
It all boils down to this, fundamentally: It's an RPG. A game. Not an official publication or the end of the world. This has absolutely no significance on the actual Watchmen publication. It's simply an alternate timeline, which... less face it... plenty of those have been made for characters bigger than Watchmen's, such as Superman, Spider-Man, Batman, ect. and they've often paled in comparison to the actual thing. But the truth is, they're just fun exercises that we read anyway, because it entertains us. Sure, they don't bring the same level of entertainment as their original counterparts, nor should they try. It's simply a matter of experimentation.
