Supergirl The CW Fall 2017 Schedule

Everything you are saying means absolutely zilch to me. When "Dynasty" was on I was in High School and far too busy for stupid TV. My days were full of school, tennis, homework and a guy named David. :cwink: "Dynasty", "Dallas", "that other tv show that was a spin off of Dallas", and pretty much anything else on TV was my mom's thing, I usually just rolled my eyes, went into the kitchen grabbed dinner and did homework. Aaaaaaahhhhh those were the days. :)

When Dynasty and Dallas were on in the 80's, I was in elementary school and my mom LOVED both shows in their original form. My grandpa (rest his soul) loved the ORIGINAL Hawaii Five-O whose reruns I wish were on instead of this mediocre reboot.

I had homework to do as well Kelly and didn't watch that much TV, then again i didn't have cable that much. Had it in '83 and in 86...both times my schoolwork suffered.

When I did watch it was the cartoons on 5 and 11 in NYC, the Mets for baseball on 9 and the Yankees on 11 (fan of the former then, the latter now).

Now since 1994 I have cable, but it's the old 500 channels and not much on...except for Fox News (though their quality is failing), SpikeTV (Lip Sync Battle), YES Network (Yankees) SNY (UCONN basketball), my local news from News 12 (where I worked for a little while) or whenever any of my sports teams come on. Game shows, mainly classics on a channel called BUZZR (engine search that). And of course CW PIX11 for Supergirl, Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow.

One of the digital channels has reruns of Hawaii Five-O and frankly putting nostalgia aside, the reboot is much better.
Better acting, better stories, and of course a lot more action.

Yeah, the original is actually really slow by comparison, and the storytelling isn't as sophisticated. And it's very dominated by Jack Lord with the other actors more peripheral characters.

Hawaii Five-0 is one of the few scripted series this year that actually made gains in ratings and viewers. It's a damn good show, getting better.

Yeah but the original went from 1968-1980. Does this current version have the legs to go 12 seasons?

Dunno. Did NCIS have legs to go 14 seasons and have 2 spin offs? It's very standard procedural but a staple of CBS. NCIS LA has already gone 8 seasons.

I could see Hawaii Five-0 going for 12 if it became regarded in the same light as NCIS.

And NCIS's parent show, JAG went for 10 seasons.

Well, considering it is the ONLY procedural series on CBS that actually grew in ratings and viewers...... so yeah, it will go 12 seasons if the cast want to go that far. It is also paired with another CBS long running show "Blue Bloods" which is one of my fav series on TV. I don't watch many series on their first run, I usually DVR and watch all of them on a binge in the summer, but "Blue Bloods" I watch as soon as I get home from football games. :)

The only issue I see with 5-0 going 12 seasons is the actors. I'm sure working in Hawaii is a big draw, but I question whether they are as dedicated (or typecast) like Padelecki and Ackles.

Well, I guess we could say that about the Law and Order shows, NCIS, Blue Bloods, etc....doesn't seem to bother those actors... but yes, H50 going that many seasons, will be determined by the actors for sure.

Isn't the lead actor of H-50 leaving? I don't follow the show (though I did watch it for the 1st couple seasons), but I thought I read that somewhere recently.

Don't watch Blue Bloods, but for NCIS and Law & Order and even Law & Order:SVU they've had a lot of cast changes. No one but Mark Harmon. Pauly Perrette, and David McCallum is left from the original NCIS cast.
No one that started on Law & Order made it to the end.
And only Mariska Hargitay is left from SVU.

He was considering it because he does a lot of his own stunts and the wear and tear is getting to him.
Could be why we don't see as much Supergirl as we like. They don't want to exhaust Melissa Benoist. They'd sort of like to have her around a few more seasons.

The original Hawaii 5-0 had many cast changes. By the 12th season, only Jack Lord as McGarrett from the original line up was left. The other characters like Danno left, while Chin Ho was killed off.
