well, i remember it being promoted at the Cannes Film Festival. not quite sure what the reviews were (since i never cared for critic reviews :p)
I thought it wasn't screened at Cannes?

I'm so confused...

well i saw the promotional posters, so i assumed :O

besides there's a thread somewhere here about critics' assement that SR would flop. pissed off the the usual suspects of course. as i've said i'm probably not the best person to ask about these matters given that i'm biased against critics in general :p.

You guys seen the new Spidey3 pics?
shows the black suit a little

But geeeez, they are making Tobey look absolutely AWFUL in these pics...

And people were crying about Routh looking 'EMO' for about a year and a half......YIKES TOBEY!

OK, it's probably not news to anyone that the Man of Steel's new movie debuts June 30.

But did you know that "Superman Returns" director Bryan Singer has written four 40-page one-shot comic books bridging 1980's "Superman II" and the new movie? Look for "Superman Returns: Krypton to Earth" (June 7), "SR: Ma Kent" (June 14), "SR: Lex Luthor" (June 21) and "SR: Lois Lane" (June 28).

To be fair he is under the influence of the black costume. He's supposed to look horrible.

Yeah, it was a no-show from what I understand (other than some advertising posters and whatnot.)

besides there's a thread somewhere here about critics' assement that SR would flop. pissed off the the usual suspects of course. as I've said I'm probably not the best person to ask about these matters given that I'm biased against critics in general :p.
Often as is the case, I end up liking what critics loathe, and loathe what they praise, so I can relate. That said, there have been some interesting comments made recently that I find myself agreeing with in principle.

Here's one such article...
http://www.miamipoetryreview.com/articles/superman-returns-movie300506.shtml

Obviously, nobody can really know anything till they've seen the product, but I'm really starting to believe SR will lend new meaning to the term, "YMMV." We shall see.

I agree, but isn't PP supposed to be a dorky teenager? Kinda sorta?

And people were crying about Routh looking 'EMO' for about a year and a half......YIKES TOBEY!
Hmm.

[Pat debates going "there."]

Can somebody define exactly what "EMO" means in this context? I've seen it applied to music, but I don't have anything definitive in mind in terms of physical appearance. Is there a current celeb that folks can cite as having an "EMO" look (other than Maguire or Routh - 'cause I don't see ANY similarity between those two in appearance.)

that reviews just screams fake to me...i dunno why, but it jst sounds one a fanboy rant from a year ago, not a movie review.

Sounds like the AICN review.....there's nothing in there that Muscles couldn't come up with. :o

Here's a great picture to imagine when you hear the term 'Emo' Pat.....

deep diary-like outpourings of emotion.

I guess that can apply to someone's 'look'. I mean, I look at those Tobey pics and think.....'Wow. Life sucks for you man. Life must really suck for you right now..' Need a hug? :o

It actually as to do with
the black symbiote Spidey suit that mess with him...kinda like Superman 3
I just think they could have gone a different route than those bad clothes and dirty hair.

hopefully the 360 will drop a little more. i wont get it until it goes under 200.00 and if ps3 thinks i am gonna spend 600 for one they can bite me

Im sure between Blue Ray dvd player AND a quality state of the art game system in the same package, Im going to take a bite out of the PS3. The 360 can lick my happy sack.

Hope you enjoy trading in that happy sack for the PS3 though...heh, I couldn't resist...I just know I won't have 600 dollars

I may just have two on order, one for myself, one for holiday season ebay extortion.

LOL it's hilarious how in 2006, getting bonded to a symbiote makes you emo!

In the 80s, Parker just stopped shaving and looked more tough and weathered.

They should have just made him more 'dirty'...ala Superman 3. Then again, MaGuire looks like a kid no matter what they do with him.

Hmmm.... Interesting.

Have you read this article?
http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/06/01/style/fmlede2.php

No mention of "emo," but the soup is starting to... I dunno... I'm at a loss for metaphor today LOL. Check out the article though. It'll probably get posted in its own thread at some point in the near future; I don't think too many folks actually read this thread.

I'm *completely* out of the loop in all things Spider-Man. I don't even know when the film is set to open. How's that for being clueless? But that spoiler sounds kinda familiar in a strange sorta way. Red K, anybody? LOL :p

I-Net speak for "Your mileage may vary." Basically means each person is going to have different results/opinions. :)
