Is the line/scene with Harvey Dent mocking the charged mob guy for pulling a chinese manufactured gun supposed to be funny?

"If you are going to kill a public servant, I recommend you buy American."

Or was it supposed to ridicule nationalism, even if that's a stretch.

Because I didn't think it was funny, there was this something in the way he uttered the words. "Ha ha, you couldn't kill me, for you stoopid for buying this cheap stuff not produced HERE in America..."
I just don't think that line fits in, it seems so dumb.

Anyone got any other thoughts on this?

I think he was just trying to be ironic, i'm not sure though. Yea i didn't find it funny either, it reminded me of something Michael Bay would do, like WHOOOO GO AMERICA!!!

When I heard that line it felt like "the least you could have done to kill an American civil servant is do it with an American gun"

No it was fine.

But I guess it could still be easy to take that line the wrong way then? It's not like he said "American" public servant, just "public servant I recommend you buy American" I think Nolan's promoting American guns now. Where's Michael Moore when you need him?

So.. after the truck-flipping, there are two goons with the Joker. One tries to remove Batman's mask and gets electrocuted (Joker jumps and spit on him)--but.. what about the other one..? Did Gordon just told him stand still, son or.. did he run away to let the other goons know that the Joker got caught so they should move on with the plan (let the other guy get caught too--the one whose insides hurt, and so on..)

note: I don't really care about any of this--just asking for fun :woot:

The first mention was OK. The repeat earned him a spot as an annoyance.

Yea that cop with Gordon in the van done my head in!!! It was funny when he was like " Is that a bazooka?!? ". But the rest of the time he was very annoying!

The bazooka part was equally funny and scary. I mean....IS THAT A BAZOOKA? Even though i knew that batman would get in the way i was scared ****less!

I wanna know where and or how did Joker get his hands on Brian Douglas lmao

Well that settles it.

Anyways...I, too...HATED that f'n guy in the SWAT van. Such a *****e.

Considering Brian was in his Batman outfit, it's very likely he went out looking for Joker himself, not realizing what he was up against.

He could have gone out in Robocop gear and I think Mr. J still would have got him.

These Batman copycats make me laugh.. poor bastards

Ya, I wanted Gordon to actually be a goon and kill him.
I take back what I said earlier. What actually earned him a spot as an annoyance was the term "air cav". Yeah, sure thing, pal.
