Here's a question... and let me preface the question by saying there weren't too many head scratchers in TDK... very few actually. Perhaps this has been discussed already... But one that sparked illumination in my mind was... When Joker say's to Dent... "Do I look like a guy with a plan?" Actually yes Joker you would have to have a plan... a very exact plan to say the least to pull off some of the capers, transgressions, etc that you pull off.
Anyone else find that quote mildly confusing?

In another thread titled "the Joker is a hypocrite" people discussed how the Joker simply told Harvey what he felt Harvey needed to hear in order to go crazy on everyone.

What does William Finch tell the Joker in the bank right before the Joker puts a grenade in his mouth?

He says "You think you're smart, huh?" but then I can never understand the line he says right after that.

What does he say?

he is talking about how criminals used to believe in something and then he asks joker what he believes in to which joker replies i believe what doesnt kill you, simply makes you stranger

why so much about dogs? initial batman scene dog attack, "it was a big dog" to alfred, joker's dogs at the end, batman "they'll set the dogs on me," joker "let's cut you up and feed you to your pooches," batman to freeman "will it protect against a dog attack"...very odd.

The dog attack at the beginning was because the Chechen brought dogs along since they could sniff out Batman before the thugs could see him. Joker's dogs at the end were actually the Chechen's dogs. Joker took possession of them after having the Chechen killed. Joker talking to the Chechen was Joker's way of telling him that his protection dogs are not going to be able to protect the Chechen from Joker. The big dog thing (Bruce to Alfred) was becasue he was attacked by three big dogs. Batman talking to Freeman was because Batman knew the dogs were still out there and he may have to face them again and he doesn't want to get mauled by three big dogs.

Oh, how I love that scene...

It's repeated so much that it's obviously part of a theme.

I think they wanted to use dogs since dogs are like people - they'll form packs, with their own hierarchies. The three dogs switch allegiance from the Chechen to the Joker, and both times, they're used to attack Batman. The image of police dogs chasing Batman at the end of the film also reminded me of fox hunting, but we also know that police dogs are used to find and take down fugitives. It emphasizes the fact that Batman is a fugitive throughout the entire film.

Lastly, Joker never uses the phrase, "dog-eat-dog world" (it would be shoving it down our throats) but that's certainly what he meant when he said, "When the chips are down, these civilized people - they'll eat each other."

No i'm pretty sure the 'bomb' in his mouth was one of the jokers sick jokes and the bullet wounds did not seem to be near his vital organs, but i guess we wont know.(the script does not say either way)

Did the Bank Manager die?

probably not, since the police showed up right after joker left so most likely the manager was given medical attention.

though i do wonder why the manager just let the grenade stay in his mouth, was he physically unable to remove it? or did he have a death wish?

No, he's not a doctor. At the end of BB, they knew he was the one who helped poison the city's water supply.

Posted this in the plot holes thread, but these are more nitpicks and I don't expect a real answer:

1. Batman can pretty much sneak in and out of most places undetected, yet triggers a break-in alarm at Wayne Enterprises? I'm talking about the scene before Fox sees the sonar system, when the secretary informs him that there was a break-in at Wayne electronics. I don't think Batman would do it intentionally, as if he wanted Lucius to come down there, he would have just told him to.

2. How does Joker get bombs into the hospital and ferries without being noticed at all? This took major planning on his part, at least a few days in advance, and I'm sure someone would have noticed someone moving that much explosives into those places.

3. How is Joker the only one not affected by the explosion at MCU when he was standing next to everyone else?

4. If Harvey had flipped the burnt side when he put the gun to his head, how would he have flipped the coin for Gordon?

5. How did Batman get to the top of that tall skyscraper in Hong Kong? He was in his batsuit, so unless he just walked in past security with a bag carrying the suit, without being questioned at all...

6. Why would Alfred ask "How do you say 'Apply your suntan lotion'"? Wouldn't he want to apply the lotion on the girls if they asked?[/quote]

Is..is Alfred gay!!?? :whatever:

#1 Batman's technology is probably upgraded high enough to prevent even him from getting past it. Thusly why he triggered it. That's how we know it's cutting edge.

#2 He has a LOT of goons and there's a LOT of corruption. bringing in trucks of Barrels into the basement might not be that suspicious

#3 They weren't expecting it...and it shown that the guy who he was holding the glass to Survived; so the bomb might have been non lethal and just a lot of force. It's not as if everyone else was blown up and Joker was not.

#4 He wouldn't. He holds himself responsible; if fate/chaos deemed it that way then thats what was supposed to happen.

#5 He jumped onto the roof

#6 Cause he's on vacation

#7 were you just quoting...did I need to not answer these?
