Umm....the steel one will or might scratch your discs still, my Halo 3 speical edition had a metal case and it still scratched my games and so did everyone elses.

I dont buy the Steel Book ones either. Reg. old plastic dvd cover for me :woot:

I've never had a problem with my steel boxes when it comes to scratching, and if the cover is Batman in front of the burning bat logo building, I want that sucka.

Yeah, that's because there is no problem. The scratching thing was a problem with Halo because the Halo case wasn't made the same way steelbook DVD cases are.

Like I said, these appear to be fake (as indicated by the cast list and taglines on the covers, and by the fact that the image on the Blu-Ray case is vertically compressed), but there will almost certainly be a steelbook, and that's what I'll probably end up getting. I always go for the steelbooks.

Im really liking the look of that steelbook case, ill probably just get that. :D

If Two Discs are as far as they are going then I'll just buy the plain 2 disc, if these are even real.

I can't wait, I bet this will sell out faster than tickets for the movie did.

I am not so concerned about the packaging.

What does interest me is this idea: I hope the WIDESCREEN version of the DVD converts to FULL FRAME during the relevant sequences to (sort of) recreate the wonderful experience we had in IMAX theaters this summer.

Wouldn't that be fun?!!

I hope someone at WB has thought of this. Maybe it could be some sort of "Special IMAX Edition" DVD?

What do all of you think?
Can that actually be done?

im very much looking forward to this although some of the higher end packages seem to be a bit well...clunky and not very appealing. and looking at the way the dollar and the economy is going I'll be having to opt for the cheaper options on most of my gifts and consumer choices this season.

I dont see how the cover cn be anything other than this:

Well, at least with the Batman Begins Blu-Ray, the IMAX-shot Prologue filled a 16 X 9 screen, where BB was letterboxed. I thought I read where the final Blu-Ray DVD would be similar to the IMAX theater experience, where the IMAX scenes would be a larger aspect ratio, and then cut back to the traditional 35mm stuff. Since the traditional theaters got a cropped version of the film, I'd imagine that's what the standard def DVD would be as well...but who knows?

my local FYE has signs hanging all over the store front to pre order your dvd because its out right before xmas and will be hard to get otherwise

Just to reduce the headaches, I will be reserving my copy. :woot:

Thanks Pennyworth...if that is true, it might be time to get a Blu-Ray player. Is it worth it in your opinion? Is the difference in quality really that noticeable? I grew up on VHS, so DVD's have always looked great to me.

I really want that IMAX-styled video experience at home though, so Blu-Ray Dark Knight may force my hand.

alternate Joker or Batman themed cover art is a MUST.
and that Batpod case is awesome!!! and I dont usually go in for zany packaging (unless its in a Simpsons head!) but for standard packaging, yea there should definitely be a Jokerized one.

uhhh this is off topic but does anyone know how many different BB dvd cover arts there are? NOT including the recent re-release.

I recall the standard edition with his wings spread.
2 disc with his big ass head on it
2 disc limited lenticular (Best Buy had em at release)
2 disc limited lenticular with different picture! I think this is Japanese or something! it has a cool pic featuring his whole body...definitely the best.

maybe theres a thread about this in the Batman Begins forum

How many DVD threads have we got now?, at least 3 I reckon.

As for gimmick boxes, I'm not assed, I'd much rather have decent features on the discs.

i can't wait for this too come out on dvd
its been said it is supposed too be released either december 2nd or december 9th.

the mask gift set is a little stupid looking imo.

i agree with you
but i think all dvd cases that aren't regular dvd cases, like the transformers and iron man one are stupid looking and a waste of money imo.

Yes, it's worth it. Especially if you get a PS3, because you not only get the 1080p DVD playback, but a versatile gaming machine. The Prologue is some of the nicest looking content I've seen yet...it's staggering. IMO, Blu-Ray will be the only way to enjoy TDK over and over and over....:woot:
