The Dark Knight Returns....Again

I like that Azzarello is working on it. I feel like Frank is in a bad state of health and wants to at least try to go out on a high note, guy does not look like he has much time left.

But like others have said, this could either be really spectacular or dreadfully awful.

Ugh! That bleeding "S" makes me feel horrible. The only "maybe", and maybe is in quotes because this is Frank Miller we're talking about, is that a) Azzarello is on it, and he probably wouldn't have been if it sucked; and b) DC wouldn't let Miller touch Batman after ASBAR but DEFINITELY after Holy Terror, which was suppose to be a Batman book, and the reaction from that. Hell, after Holy Terror, Miller wanted to do Captain America, but Marvel laughed at his face. Maybe, just maybe, Miller got the job to do DKIII because he has something that is better than HT and DKSA and ASBAR. Doubtful, as in take a huge piece of "yeah right!", but we'll see.

Still hate the bleeding "S", though.

P.S. You know, Miller should just do, so we can see it, a Superman story that glorifies him much like the Dark Knights gloried Batman.

Could be bleeding S mean Lara is the villain? Doesn't make much sense for Supes and Bats to be at odds after DKSA (just going off of memory here)

Great so we get to experience Frank Miller **** on Superman again.

I think I'll count myself out for this.

Not even sure what kind of compelling story they can tell after the events of TDKSA.

Whoa, $#%^ is serious.
And Frank is one of the writers. :wow:

I dunno... All Star Batman & Robin isn't that bad...

*ducks and runs*

I can't help but be excited to see what comes of this project.

Why can't he finish Dark Knight: Boy Wonder first? or is that Jim Lee's fault?

I'll check this out though if it actually comes out. I'm in a minority that has enjoyed everything about Frank Miller's Batman from his beginnings in Year One to his descent to madness by All-Star Batman & Robin and then his return and TDKSA. I just take it for what it is and not what I wanted it to be.

All Star Batman wasn't bad and neither was The Dark Knight Strikes Again.

A genius remains a genius even if he goes mad. Frank Miller was a pissed off young man and that translated to Daredevil and TDKReturns and when he got older he turned into a pissed off and very eccentric old man and that translated to All Star Batman and TDKSA.
I don't get why people cannot see it's satire. Granted, not all of it is good but it's not like a really bad run on a monthly book. It's a spin off, an elserworlds story, something different. Anything from Frank Miller is worth reading and talking about.

The title "Master Race" sounds like something Lara would say in regards to herself. Maybe they pick up on that plot thread and have her go rogue.

^ The original rumour from last year or whenever it was was that it would be an elderly Carrie Kelly vs Superman's daughter (I'm assuming this is the Lara you're referring to from DKSA... I've never actually read that).

As for art, on the list floating around by top pics are Sean Murphy and Dave Gibbons. Keep JRjr the hell away from it.

What happened again in that terrible sequel?

I haven't read it since I originally bought it during it's release...

A very bold claim there

Angry Batman abducts kid who just lost his parents, and gives him a scary ride calling him PUNK all the way.
Makes the kid hunt and eat rats in the cave.
Knows about every superhero more than they know about themselves, like Superman can fly, but he doesn't.
Violently hurts thugs, burns them alive, but not to a crisp, and has sex with Black Canary on a pier.
Makes Robin hit Hal real hard, and slaps the kid hard after he nearly breaks Hal's larynx before helping the injured.
Gordon cheating on his wife on the phone while she is there in the room with him.

It's not terrible, it's funny and stupid.
That's my confession.

It is but the book really wasn't this abomination everyone made it out to be. It's a brilliant prequel of the psychotic, Dirty Harry, Dark Knight Returns Batman. He saw Jason Todd as a soldier who honoured him and that's exactly what we got in All Star. Batman is capable of taking on the entire League in case they misbehave and in All Star he paints a whole room yellow to depower Hal Jordan and show him how rediculous he really is and how easy it is for a non superpowered guy to win. It's a great interpretation. Pushing Batman to the absolute limits of his own psychosic. So many great stuff in that book. People are not reading it correctly.

Everything you just listed is the reason I can't abide that version of Batman. It doesn't work as anything. Not smart satire. Not knowing metatext. Not as noirish pulpy fun. It's tin eared, and stupid in the worst possible way to me. It's just his usual BS of riling people up for his own jollies and the jollies of his fans who get off on that nonsense for some reason.

Well I certainly hope Miller uses 3 to redeem himself for the absolute stinker that was 2.

No 1 was the standard on which all comics could/should be compared.

Talk about going from the penthouse to the craphouse..
