i love scarface, i think you could do something very unsettling with that. i disagree about penguin. while there isn't much to go on as far as mental disorders. i think you could do a cool penguin for today's world. he's an arms dealer with an obsession with security and technology. and of course a love of birds. his "fortress," which would be his corporate headquarters that housed his workshop could be guarded by state of the art security technology all modeled, in part, after birds. and he would have all kinds of exotic birds around. perhaps as a child he had a parakeet or something that some bully shot and killed with a BB gun. little pengy set up a sting of sorts to get the kid in trouble and send him to juvi. after that he starts being a stool pidgeon. some kids call him stool penguin because he is fat and he waddles. so he spends his whole nerdy life turning other kids in using devious and espionagish ways. so he eventually goes into security, and military weapons development. and of course on the side he sells weapons illegally. that's where the big money is. that's just off the top of my head though. i'm sure something better with a similar premise could be thought upEgh, unnecessary knowledge!
Back on topic, though, I never was interested in villains like Killer Croc or the Penguin. After the essentials are done, though, I'd love to see Scarface, Talia Al Ghul and Clayface, though.
i understand what your saying, and yes penguin is a secondary guy at best. i used to like him in batman returns, when i was a kid. but now i don't. as i got older i thought of penguin as more of a dignified man. i prefer the burgess meredith over devito for sure. i mean devito looks exactly like penguin, and i bet he could play the penguin i want. but the BR penguin doesn't do it for me anymore. too gross. that's more like killer croc. living in the sewer and all that. and what was with the circus stuff? that's more jokery to me. but, at the very least he was interesting.I could see Penguin only as a Scarecrow-in-BB-type villain. With the exact amount of screentime Cillian had, no more.
Croc, yeah, it could work like what you said.
However, my point is I don't find them interesting at all, not that they can't be done. I really don't care about them. Penguin in BR is the only interesting incarnation of him thus far for me.
coolI like it, I'll make a response after I finish reading my sinestro corp comic heh

no, there's nothing wrong with recasting, but i think changing the villain would be wrong. i mean, they are recasting dawes, but she'll be the same. if it's in the same series i think there should be some consistency in the character. but i don't see a problem in putting a new actor in the role, especially if the original actor began getting older than the character was supposed to be. but if nolan keeps making batman movies, i'd like to the same cast for as long as possible.Fair enough. Another way out is, naturally, reccuring villains. I mean, if Batman 4 is still set in the Nolanverse and gets a makeover a la Schumacher (I mean reimagining, not going dowhill), they can always recast living villains and bring them back. There's nothing wrong with that.
YEah, I'm saying this only if (and when) Nolan leaves. I can't expect the next creator to share the exact same vision. In the next trilogy, I expect a total makeover (which is exactly what I'm hoping for in the next Spidey Trilogy and don't want Raimi or anybody from the current cast to return. Don't get me wrong though, I loved the movies, except for no3, it's just that the arc is done, let's bring 100% new blood).
