Not a fan of CGI cartoon series

Comics Continuum and World's Finest are hearing that, as most figured was a no-brainer, there'll be an animated Green Lantern DTV released in summer 2011 to take advantage of the release of the feature film. However, they're hearing that it won't be a sequel to Green Lantern: First Flight, but will instead look at the origins of the Green Lantern Corps and may be an anthology in the style of Tales of the Green Lantern Corps.

World's Finest is also hearing that Warner Animation has given the go-ahead to a Green Lantern animated series (presumably the Bruce Timm series) with an initial order of 26 episodes. As usual, Warners declined to comment prior to any official announcement being made.

A Green Lantern animated project is in the works at Warner Bros. Animation, The Continuum has learned.
According to sources, it will be a direct-to-video film that will be timed for release of the live-action Green Lantern movie in the Summer of 2011.
A representative of Warner Home Video said the studio will not comment on any film that hasn't been announced as in production.
According to sources, the new Green Lantern animated project takes a look at the origins of the Green Lantern Corps, including the first ring wielders.
At Emerald City Comic-Con last weekend, DC Comics' Geoff Johns hinted at a Green Lantern animated series, which would appear to be a different project

WB has 3 NEW series on their slate, Mystery INC- the new Scooby show, Young Justice, and Bruce Timms CG Green Lantern for 4Q 2011. ALL for Cartoon Network, who originally passed on the new Thundercats. Both Mattel and Hasbro got the series pitch and passed on the toys for couple different reasons. "Lack of cool tech" the big one. But Ban Dai did a hard core play for the rights. They weren't interested in a "Classic" adult line, and thought that the new take on the series was something very different for the toy aisles. Which is what Mattel and Hasbro were afraid of.

I could go on and on about this... as I DO know A LOT about it

It's Sorta THE Young Justice. They will be going out with this BIG TIME at Comic Con. From what I saw, it's Martian Girl, Aqualad, Nightwing, Impulse, Arrowette, and Connor Kent. The poster gives me the tone that it's a cross between JLU and TT. I liked the look a lot. It's not quite Timm-style, but it's not All Murikami'd out like Teen Titans.

The kids were the focus of the poster, in the center, but The JL was behind them.

DCAU next re-released complete boxset

It is cool that apparently BATMAN BEYOND sold well enough to warrant a mondo "complete series" box set with all 3 seasons and those extra goodies.

can't wait for Bruce Timm's CG Green Lantern series.
I'm curious as to how the end result will look but I'm not thrilled that Bruce Timm is taking the CG route that's being done to death by other animators.

I guess I cherish his 90s-00s 2-D hand drawn work alot and was hoping he wouldn't abandon it.

I might still warm up to the new series. Who knows?

I liked First Flight but a GLCorps dvd detailing their origins sounds pretty interesting too. Looking forward to that.

Thats to bad to hear but I can understand why. They were good movies but i never imagined they'd sell as well or rather not as briskly anyway. Most people don't consider most DC comics characters besides Superman and Batman to be incredibly mega popular these days.

Maybe the anthology route or combining dvd releases of characters like that could help?

Greenwood as Batman. Interesting. I was one of the few who actually liked Sisto as Bats in The New Frontier. I'm hoping Baldwin in the upcoming film is at least decent.

Even though you can't beat Conroy, I like the fact that they're trying to distance themselves a little bit and try new things, create new worlds, etc.

I agree. I liked Sisto a lot. Even like Baldwin. Greenwood also impressed me. I like that they are casting specific voice actors that may better suit a specific kind of story and period.

Jeremy Sisto was fantastic in his small role, and said one of the coolest Batman lines ever.

"And one other thing. I'm not sure what you are, or where you come from, but my instincts tell me you are to be trusted. Make no mistake, though. I have a $70,000 sliver of radioactive meteorite to stop the one from Metropolis. With you, all I need is a penny for a book of matches."

I would die a happy man if there was a way I could speak that line, in context, in real life.

I would die a happy man if J'onn immediately knocked him out the window after it. Batman's an a**hole. :o

I disagree. I go by the Team America triumvirate of 3 different kinds of people: Batman is clearly a d!#k.
