The Death of Batman (?!?!?)

So, it was pure speculation on your part, right?
By that token, any question of morality is speculation. If a question can't be answered by proof, does that make all conversation on the subject speculative?

But it's not a question of morality. It's not a question at all. You made a very specific statement about a very specific thing. And you keep dancing all around it. You made something up just like Rich Johnston does, making you no better or worse then him.

What part of "rumour" aren't you guys getting? He reports on what he hears, and lists them according to their varying degrees of truth. Sometimes they come to pass and sometimes they don't.
Basically you're standing up for a guy who a) posted a rumor he had no proof of as a "news story" and b) continued to push and spread said rumor without any credible proof. So, yes, in effect he made something up, spread it, and then said it was all "so not true" when he failed to find any proof of it.

Yeah, pretty lame.

I'm not standing up for anyone. I'm calling it like I see it. I see a rumor columist reporting rumors. You're the one calling it a "news story," not me and most certainly not Rich Johnston himself.

Huh? I'm sorry, but I fail to see how you can accurately claim that anyone made anything up. Were you there? I don't know why it's such a hard concept for you to grasp, but it's a RUMOR column. The word on the street, according to whatever street Johnston hangs out on, was that there were plans to off Bruce Wayne. Now, those plans may have changed, or perhaps someone just misheard something, or perhaps that info was intentially leaked by DC to Johnston for whatever reason. It could be any number of things.

My point is, I don't know and neither do you. Yet, of the two of us, you're the one claiming to know EXACTLY what happened here, without offering up a single bit of credible proof.

Which, oddly enough, sounds very familiar....

Ach, just Jack be the big devil's advocate here...this conversation is circular and boring.

That's because everytime I make a valid point, you look the other way. I feel like I'm talking to myself.

I feel we're clashing on a fundamental level, Jack. I'm looking at this from a different perspective than you are, and it's going to prevent an agreement.

I'm not sure there's anything you're willing to agree with me on. I mean, I haven't disagreed with you assesment of rumor mongers not being journalists. The only thing that you seem to be completely unable to address directly are my responses to your own wild speculations and allegations that have no definitive proof.

Technically, "Batman" has already died, fried by S-Prime in countdown. Granted, it was Jason as Bats, but you get the idea...:woot:

Oh crap, that was THAT Earth? Damn, I liked that one. It was like at least somewhere in the multiverse, happy endings are occasionally acceptable.

Wow, it's really too bad that none of us have been saying so from the beginning.

Watch as this same exact rumor with the same exact speculation and overreaction shows up again in less than two years from now.

Yeah, your "boy" Rick Johnston held a rumor up as credible, put a yellow light up with it and everything when he had
A) No statement from DC or their staff
B) No statement from WB or their staff
C) No official anouncements or statements made by anyone indicating anything to the effect of...

So yes, he broke a 'news story'...and yes it was referred to as a scoop...on a website without credible proof after some guy who writes for Comics2film wrote an OpEd piece showing all these bullsh** foreshadowings of Batman's death...none of which meant anything.

That where his story came from.
Huh? I'm sorry, but I fail to see how you can accurately claim that anyone made anything up.
Well we officially have proof someone made something up because it was never happening in the first place, considering the fact that Dan Didio said it was never happening.
Were you there? I don't know why it's such a hard concept for you to grasp, but it's a RUMOR column. The word on the street, according to whatever street Johnston hangs out on, was that there were plans to off Bruce Wayne.
In other words, when some assh*** posters sends him something without, I don't know, fact checking with someone he posts it and says "it's probably true".
Now, those plans may have changed, or perhaps someone just misheard something, or perhaps that info was intentially leaked by DC to Johnston for whatever reason. It could be any number of things.
No, Didio said they were never happening. period.
My point is, I don't know and neither do you. Yet, of the two of us, you're the one claiming to know EXACTLY what happened here, without offering up a single bit of credible proof.
In case you don't know Dan Didio actually works for DC, and he said at Wizard World Texas "THERE WERE NEVER ANY PLANS TO KILL OFF ANY OF THE BIG 3". period.

Why is this thread still going? Have you not heard? It's all bull****!! :woot:

DOOD I JUST HURD THERE KILLINGG OF NIGHTWING IN INFINTE CRIS!

Yeah. He claims that the way Flash The Fastest Man Alive went down was all planned from the very beginning, which has to be horse****. He's also claimed that the editorially mandated reboot of Doom Patrol being retconned less than two years later was also planned "all along."

Has Rich Johnston?
Loudly, publicly, and obviously.

C’mon now!
Didn’t the bat died from a heart attack in that dark knight novel years ago!?
Sooo it wouldn’t be the first time… right!?
