Age of Ultron The Design & Origin of ULTRON

people who think he should have a human face in order to emote and therefore be threatening need to watch 2001..............

the whole point of a rogue A.I. is that it is impersonal. it says something about human nature; i.e. there is more to being human than just being conscious/intelligent/rational.

rogue a.i.s are scary because you can't reason with them on an emotional level. adding a face, the place where emotions are demonstrated, therefore makes little sense.

Agreed 100%.

why? Ultron originally had an ant's head; borrowed from Pym.

Because if in fact Stark is designing Ultron I'd rather Ultron look different than anything he's designed. I don't want any resemblance to an Iron Man suit. Stark is more than capable of this.

Who do people want voicing Ultron? Or maybe even playing him if he somehow ends up in human form?

Vin Diesel :o

I always imagined the voice to be like HAL from 2001. Cold, yet re-assuring, however terrifying all at once.

In the limited series Avengers/ Invaders, SHIELD are using versions of Ultron instead of LMDs. Maybe Coulson becomes Ultron. :woot:

This. To be honest, I think anyone else who disagrees just have blind faith.

that's just my opinion though :P

BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH

Heres what has me excited.....we got sw and ultron. .....does that mean we will get vision!?

Except that Ultron is not completely emotionless, he just thinks that he is. He's shown anger, sadness, love, impatience, sadism, etc all at various points. The argument that he's this emotionless machine simply isn't true.

Ya, except no one is arguing that he is, I think.

The argument is that he DOES show emotion, and experiences emotion, the fact that these emotions are coming out of a a robotic body that doesn't physically express said emotions, that's whats scary and why some of us think it shouldn't change

Fair enough, Benedict Cumberbatch doing his Khan voice would be fantastic for Ultron. I'd also love to see John Noble voice him.

I am currently obsessed with the idea of Cumberbatch being Ultron. That's like, ideal

I still think Alan Todyk would be absolutely the poop as Ultron. And I'm a little burnt out on Cumberbach. He's great but other people should get a turn.

I don't really care for who gets the role of Ultron, just hope they portray him well and make him a serious threat.

I just hope that they keep his more classical features, find a good way to introduce him and that they figure out a way to make the voice feel connected to the robotic body. Him being a bad ass is already foh sure. We aint be gettin no army, we be getting one heeell of a robot fighta.

why cause of Irobot? lol or dodgeball? :P

See, I never even heard of Cumberbatch till Star Trek, so i am all for it. i never knew he was well known

He's the star of a Sherlock Holmes TV show on the BBC, he's playing Smaug and The Necromancer in The Hobbit, and he's playing Julian Assange in a biopic. There's a lot of Cumberbach out there right now. And more power to him, he's a great actor, but he doesn't have to play every genocidal villain of a sci-fi property with a huge fan following, he can share.

I present evidence in favor of Alan Tudyk for Ultron:

there are so many great voice actors out there. they really dont need to get a prominent actor for this. especially since theyre gonna distort the voice in post.
