Managed to see TLJ tonight. Had no time over the weekend. I can see why some fanboys hate it but I thought it was good. It went bold without straying from the roots.

It also has me wondering how much truth and how much lie was being said about [blackout]Rey's parentage[/blackout]. It's not exactly from what I would call a reliable source, although the Force is a tricky thing to parse.

It wouldn't be the first time that Star Wars [blackout]has misdirected the audience about someone's parentage to set up a reveal later on. That, and Kylo's "you're nothing, but I can make you something" speech does come off as an attempt at manipulation.[/blackout]

Pretty much my take is [BLACKOUT]the reveal is fine, but yes given what was happening at that moment in the film, Rey's fragility, Kylo wanting to connect with her for the his own purposes, yeah... I would be fine if we were given a swerve there.

See... I am sympathetic to a point with those that feel that the film did not deliver on the promise of revelations about Snoke or Rey, the seeds of which are most definitely planted in TFA. Again, though, I do like the idea of her being unconnected now a lot more seeing how Rian threaded that into the bigger themes of the film.[/BLACKOUT]

One theory that I've read is that when Rey is on the island[BLACKOUT] she asks who her parents are and she only sees a reflection of herself. The reason she only saw herself is because she already knows the answer.[/BLACKOUT]

I still say that [blackout]Rey's parents could be Ezra and Sabine. Hey man, war takes a toll. Some people might hit the bottle pretty hard. Ezra was a scavenger after all. THEORY CONFIRMED. WILL FIGHT ANYONE THAT DISAGREES.[/blackout]

I like that.

Just going off what Rian Johnson said to EW... [BLACKOUT] the intention in that scene is that Kylo is being honest. He's also being manipulative and desperate, but he genuinely believes it. Of course Rian said that JJ could very well go the other way, so we'll see what happens there.

Really the only thing that bugged me in regards to the way TLJ handled the TFA mystery box stuff was that he we didn't get anything on where the hell Snoke came from. [/BLACKOUT] Other than that I'm pretty much ok with how they handled things. And let us never speak of the mystery box antics of JJ Abrams ever again.

I am fine with the reveal for Rey. I get the thematics of it if you will.
I think if Kylo is telling the truth as he sees it fine. Having Kylo start that revelation though does give them an out if they want to do it... Given the screeching of the fanboys out there though I am hoping they stick to their guns on Rey's origin now. I am somewhat in agreement on Snoke though.
While at this point it's not necessary to get all the information on him,
he is tied into Ben's story big time. On the other hand... If all he was there for was to be the stepping stone for Kylo Ren to take his place as THE villain of this trilogy then that's fine. This was never Snoke's story. It's obviously now the story of Rey and Kylo.
